I went with the Atlas from Greg Smith Equipment. It is really sturdy!! I have the Mastiff on it up in the air and I can try to shake it from side to side, but it doesn't budge! Here is what I went with: Atlas Cycle Lift

Thanks Mike! A lot of members here seem to like the Atlas products. Kickstart sent me a bunch of pics of his (different model I think). I am impressed with Atlas and am considering all options.

Thanks, I appreciate your input.

OK
:( Well, I'll just keep my trap shut. I didn't realize that FYI was such a touchy term. I am over 51 years old and have built a custom bike that ended with a 4 page spread in the Horse magazine. No models were needed! Yes, I hope I am never as old as you

I do all my bike work. I can't say I have a strong back but working out helps with the core muscles.

I joined the site before you. But, you have more posts than me! I own more bikes than you and you don't ride a Hardtail.

I am not a Senior Member whatever that means and live in the great state of Louisiana vice Utah.

I still like my stupid Jack and the bikes don't fall off. If I were to have a problem, I would use my Engine hoist or gantry crane.

So, did you piss me off. The answer would be "Yes". However, if we ever did meet, I am sure we would end up as friends!
OK, Huw! Let's you and I put this to rest and call a Truce. I WILL NOT get into a 'pissing match' with you (or anyone on the internet).

I would however like to try to speak (in a non-argumentative way)to some of your responses:

First you Don't have to "keep your trap shut". AND "FYI" is not in and of itself a touchy term". I was only upset by your short, flippant, out of place comments to my thread about Table lifts. (Please re-read some of your comments and think about your posts).

AND please post some pics from your build and the spread in Horse magazine (or a link if you have posted them here or elsewhere) because I would really and sincerely like to see them, chick or no! And I really feel bad for you that you say this: "Yes, I hope I am never as old as you", because that can only mean you are gonna' Die pretty quick! But maybe you subscribe to that "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young" mentality.

Next, I am glad to hear that you do all your bike work, although with all your bikes, I can't imagine how you have gotten along without a table lift. And I'm sorry that your back is not strong, because my 'old back' IS and you are correct, the gym and working out is the key.

Continuing I salute you that you "joined the site before me", that you "own more bikes than me" and that "you ride a Hardtail".:flag: Keep up those "FYI" one-liner posts and you will soon surpass me in that area too!

Like you Huw, I also don't know what being a Senior Member means or how I even had the dubious honor bestowed on me. (It must have something to do with my age:rolleyes:) AND I certainly don't know what your comment: "I live in the great state of Louisiana vice Utah" means??. For me it has always been that "Happiness is Not a Place, but rather a State-of Mind" so I am sure I would love your "great state of Louisiana"!

And Hey, Man, Your jack is NOT "Stupid". I have one just like it and they have their honored place in ANY bikers shop! And when we meet (and I hope we do and that it is in your area) you can show me how you use your engine hoist and gantry crane when working on your bikes.

So finally I am sorry that I pissed you off. I guess we are even because you also pissed me off with some of your inappropriate posts. But let's NOT tit for tat. That is certainly counter-productive and NOT the 'High Road'.

The very best thing said in this whole exchange was from you when you stated: "However, if we ever did meet, I am sure we would end up as friends"!

This is 'Taking the High Road' and I thank you for saying it!:2thumbs: I sincerely hope some day we CAN meet and I sincerely hope, "we WOULD end up as friends"!

Nuke, Have a great day, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

Ken that post and picture is way out of line. I have been to many of those events and the courage these kids demonstrate is well beyond what most of us can comprehend. They are anything but retarded and if you spent some time with them or had a child in this situation you would understand this. I know on a broad forum like this no matter what you say someone will be offended but this I think should be offensive to everyone. I was actually enjoying this thread until it turned ugly.

Point well taken, I am removing it. And I apologize.

Thanks for setting me straight. If I had been thinking straight I would have remembered one of my favorite country music videos: Garth Brooks Standing Outside the Fire. Then I would never have posted what I did. It was insensitive on my part.

I just don't understand how you can't see the difference between a jack and a lift? I've worked on a bike on a jack and it's not ideal.

For instance, how do you work on anything that the jack obstructs? It's nice to have a work bench for parts and tools right where you're working. The bike is more secure. Working in the standing position is a huge advantage.

At 51 years old, I'd hope that you have learned to work smart, not hard. :D

I'm making an executive decision. Cowboy go buy the lift. Since you live in Utah (like myself) bring it and your knowledge up to my garage. We shall use said lift to build me a custom and I can learn the art of welding, fabrication and engine & tranny internals. If you don't like said lift I shall then purchase it from you. Do we have a deal?

Because I've done it 3 times, and each time I said I'd buy a lift for the next one. It blows! Seriously, I think the HF lift is fine, I know alot of guys on Club Chopper use them. I just want to build my own, and make it super long and beefy so my bike fits on it.

CAN'T BEAT THE PRICE

I have the exact one for 2 years. Paid 270.00. can't beat it. why Pay double or triple for a different brand.
My 05 Chopper is 104 inches Your K 9 is 108 i believe. The 104 inch Works . You probably will be able to get the 108 inch on there. i made one modification. I bought the harbor freight wheel chock and mounted it on the front of the lift. I use that chock for all my bikes. I drilled some holes where I can move it forward for my chopper ( or back for the shorter ones) . It's bolted down and hangs over the front about 4 inches. It works great this way.

stability is not an issue.

contact me if you want a pic or additional info. I spent some time figuring how this lift could be used on our bikes.

thx Mark

I just purchased the HF bike lift for $299 using the coupon from a magazine,
I also purchased the bigger wheel chock for $69 and a 2year warranty for $49, The warranty allows you to replace the lift no questions asked for the period that the warranty is valid.
Thanks to shovelcowboy for finding and sharing the coupon. The package is pretty heavy and about 7 1/2 feet long.

I have the same stand. Bolted a Titan front wheel chock and added about 10" to the overall length. Think the lift is awesome

I just bought one also. I am very pleased with it. Great value.

Not an inch to spare with my Mastiff but works well. I may look into a better wheel chock.

Looking forward to retirement
I bolted on a roll in chock system and have no complaints with mine.with the roll in chock system more forwards you don't have to weld an extention on the back. I did all this about a year ago and have really enjoyed the lift. From working on both bikes to detailing them. Plus the roll in chocks help hold the bike up while I ratchet it in place.

I tried to use that same chock and it would have hit my fender going up, so I took the back off.
