I bought the plans for $25 (also bought his plans for a press) because he spent the time to design the thing, and having a cut list will save you a shitload of time and aggravation. I also pay for shareware if I like it...

I was also going to build one, but to buy one for less then $300 bucks, I figured I could just modify the chinese lift with some American eginuity.

Hey All, I really appreciate all the input and info. It is helping me out a lot on making a decision.

Since two of you have mentioned other Harbor Freight models (and I know they use to sell 3) I went on their site and I only see the one on the coupon I posted. Does anyone know if the other two are still available? (I think BBChopper and Brew have those other models)

I especially appreciate the links to mods that have been done. Welding on mods is no problem for me.

Thanks, Shovelcowboy
Ken I just checked and I dont see the 1200# unit, I only paid $479.00 and it's built like a Tank!

I have hf yellow motorcycle jack. It was 70 bucks. Can't beat the price. Sure its Chinese shit, but hey it works. I wouldn't hesitate to get one of these if the price is right and it meets your needs. Can't go wrong just using it around the garage.

+275 on shipping costs, brings the ramp to about $800.00. You can pick up the Harbor Freight for $500.00 less!!!! and add extensions for + sides and save at least 400-500

I'm watching this thread daily, and the more I look it the better the harbor freight deal looks for $299 - PICKED UP LOCAL!!! ....

As much as I would like to go 'top-of-the-line', I am thinking like you. Shipping really adds $$$ to a heavy item like this and there are now so many Harbor Freight stores, you can just pick one up. Also I haven't heard any real negative comments from forum members who have this "cheaper' lift.

And the mods are really not a problem for me since I have a welder and a supply of steel that I have picked up over the years (you just can't believe the good iron you can get cheap from exercise equipment at thrift stores:D) Ya, I know, 'cheapskate me' but its something I got from being poor 'down on the farm as a kid.

Appreciate all the input from Ya'all here!

Shovelcowboy:cheers:

Oh, and Nukeranger and Kdub. This thread has always been about 'table' lifts, Not jacks. I have one of these like the yellow one you speak of and after my chopper build (which I pretty much did on one of these), I need a table lift. So does my 'old back'!!

Yeah I agree I'm just saying I'm happy with my jacks performance I wouldn't hesitate to get the table lift. In fact I would if I wasn't such a poor public servant.

FYI, I am sticking to my Jack. It does everything I need it to do. Plus, you need to work out and strengthen your back. It needs to last a lifetime!

FYI
Obviously you don't do builds from the ground up. And probably don't wrench on your bike much. And most likely aren't as old as me.

I am glad you are happy with your jack and may you be blessed with a strong back in your old age (and may your bike never fall off your jack).

AND just maybe you should STOP with the "FYI", especially when what you say doesn't apply to the thread, and sometimes I think just maybe no one really cares about all your "FYI" comments on nearly every post.:bang:

If I have offended you or if I am wrong with my comments, I sincerely apologize.

:( Well, I'll just keep my trap shut. I didn't realize that FYI was such a touchy term. I am over 51 years old and have built a custom bike that ended with a 4 page spread in the Horse magazine. No models were needed! Yes, I hope I am never as old as you

I do all my bike work. I can't say I have a strong back but working out helps with the core muscles.

I joined the site before you. But, you have more posts than me! I own more bikes than you and you don't ride a Hardtail.

I am not a Senior Member whatever that means and live in the great state of Louisiana vice Utah.

I still like my stupid Jack and the bikes don't fall off. If I were to have a problem, I would use my Engine hoist or gantry crane.

So, did you piss me off. The answer would be "Yes". However, if we ever did meet, I am sure we would end up as friends!
