Hell in Washington state you have to have the tag light horizontal, you get a ticket if it is vertical. You just can't have anything cool:loony:

Knotso and I have been stopped by the State Patrol here and they never said anything about the vertical plate. But someother cop might be different I guess!

While we're on the subject, what are the odds for getting a ticket in Daytona next week for a vertically mounted tag? I've been to Daytona Bikeweek 4 times with this setup and I've had no problem but have been seeing alot of articles & post on plate position lately. . . . . . . . . . . Paying a $1141 fine would kinda put a damper on my trip.

The way I understand the new law and from friends who have been warned here it's a $1000 fine first time offense. Just not worth it:nonod:

So here's a question. When I first flipped mine vertical, I put my plate on with the letters/numbers facing away from the bike. My reasoning was that the license plate light was on the outside & the way the plate is mounted when it's horziontal, the lights are at the top of the plate.

But when I started noticing, everybody mounts the plate exactly the opposite.

Just wondering what everybody's reasoning is for mounting the plate in that direction?

Maybe I did it the wrong way cause I'm a lefty?

As long as your plate is mounted in accordance with your state's regulations, Florida can not ticket you.

That's what I thought. And so many aftermarket tag mounts are vertical so they must be legal most places.

Here's mine but I wouldn't recommend doing one like this (through the axle). They are tough getting the spacers, position, and wires right. I do like it now that it is done but I had to hacksaw part of the thickness off the 'axle-through' area since the wheel spacers must be just right. Being curved this tag mount doubles as a belt guard which is cool.

I have one just like this only the light is a 'trucker girl' that I got for my K-9 project. I want to cut the axle mount off and use the stock mount bar off my K-9 to attach it to.
