Scott!!!!!!!!!!! Dude, I'm calling you out. Where's the video man? You said it's a pitbull you're on in that picture. Prove it.

I checked out a bike this weekend with the PSI on it..Sorry, but I'll save some cash an go with the 46 Mikuni over the PSI or the G. I had a 42 Mikuni on my softail, and there's nothing that feels that good. In my opinion, the PSI is a good looking carb, but I'll take performance over looks. I'm shocked there's isn't more discusion on this forum about Mikuni's. It's a superior carb over the G or XXX, and I challenge anyone to prove me wrong. The s&s is either idle or wide open, the driveability is shitty, and anyone who's ever tried themselves, or payed someone to tune it, knows what I'm talking about.

I won't hold my breath to wait on the video.

SIICK!!!
everyone that I know that has the XXX carb....loves them! they can tell a big difference between the stock G and the XXX. Don't know anyone that has the Mikuni to compare it to a XXX . I am going to go with the XXX next year for sure!

Sul,

just curious what are the other carbs you have tried? I'm close to pulling the trigger on the PSI but my dealer doesn't seem to know about or do many serious engine mods

maybe your thinking your in the thread that asks for a poll between the psi or xxx? i started this thread because it was a mod that i am doing.
Sul... I cleaned up your thread and moved all the posts in your thread that were killing your mod thread.. to this PSI vs XXX thread.

No Sul, I'm not saying you're wasting your money. You know as well as I do about bikes, what you like, may not be what I like, may not be what he likes, etc. But after having seen the carb last week, then going back Saturday after they had it on and tuned. I couldn't feel 700 bucks difference in it and the Mikuni. I obviously didn't ride the customers bike, but they did fire it up in the shop, and let me feel the throttle. I won't deny it had good throttle response, but no more than my softail with the 42 Mikuni.

I had my softail built at a shop in Pinellas Park called, Cycle-Rama. Anyone who lives in the area and rides can pretty much tell you a story about something they've built. The owners name is Wes Brown, and he's won just about every horsepower shootout there is. If the dealership Scott's dad owns is into speed like he say's, then they've heard of either Wes or Cycle-Rama, he's not just a local guy. They have a website nightrider.com, then got to the cycle-rama link in that site. You can even call and talk to him.

I have nothing to do with cycle-rama personally, other than being a happy customer. And I think you should do what YOU want because it's YOUR bike. I'm just offering my opinion having seen and felt the PSI. It's a work of art for sure, just not an extra 700 bucks pretty. I wanted the PSI from the first time I saw it, and I was disapointed to say the least.

And sorry Sul, I did type 46, I meant 45.

it aint about money

I must admit I like the Mikuni's and one of my first posts on this site was to ask people's views on them and everyone said go with the triple x - so I did - no doubt I'll get a Mikuni at some stage though - just something about them for me - I'd possibly go for the 48 though - it may be too much carb for a stock motor but then the Triple X G is 47.6 so not much difference in terms of size - If I do get one I'll most likely keep the triple X as well - can do what I want then

That's exactly how I feel about the Mikuni too. It just feels better, more crisp. The only way to know is to own one, I guess.
I'll go with the 45 since I've got the stock 107".

SUL, I am very close to a PSI buy, it looks like you are happy with the Gen4 unit. Where did you source it from.

SUL, thanks. What is your assessment on the claims. I know it looks awesome as I saw one at a custom Bike show here in California. Buy the way where in Jersey are you. Born in Northern NJ Lincoln Park

Hey SUL,
Some 46 Mikuni are offered on Wave-Runners, Jet-Skis, and personal watercraft. Since i don't know these V-Twins, but i'm learning more and more. I'm not sure if the 46 Mikuni would work (manifolds, throttle cables, etc...) But they are out there. After i get my XXX Taz tuned in,, i'm gonna' give one of my Mikuni a whirl, since i've got'em just sitting around.
Just thought i would pass on that info.

so your saying i'm wasting my money on the PSI? :bang:

plus i'm all about the performance, looks are for women not bikes.

you must have seen an earlier version of the PSI cause i i'm quite impressed with this. maybe you can prove that wrong?

by the way where the hell you getting a 46 mik from? boring a 45 or filling a 48?

So what was the final outcome of Sul's PSI changeout? The last I read it was too cold to tune it. Is it on? Has it been tuned and tested?

The price to do this without the PSI is around 1800. We can turn this around in 3-4 days!! If you want the PSI it is extra. If you have any questions call Greg or Tim at 314-291-6333. This is parts and labor.
If you look at the sheet below the black is with a G and the red is with the PSI.

One thing needs to be made clear here on this dyno run. From the chart h/p and torq start to drop about 4300 rpm? What i see is there is no correction factor,no mph which the dyno jet needs to calibrate which gear its in,no measure api fuel being used. The confusion lies in interpreting the dyno's numbers. It's not showing rear wheel torq, it's showing engine torq as measured at the rear wheel. A Dynojet dyno won't even show torq unless you use the tach pickup. It's because it needs to understand the gear reduction that lives between the drum and the crankshaft in order to calculate the torq at the crankshaft. With this compared to my bike i wood say your gearing is also different then stock bdm. Combination of all could raise this bike straight up in the air BUT at 100mph any stock bdm will blow your doors off. So remember direct gear 1-1 ratio any lower gear than this you are multiplying the torq reading. Don't be fooled by numbers from this basic dyno chart when you should be comparing gearing also.
