No snow, but plenty of ice !! It's like 20 degrees outside.

I also sent a question to the S&S tech department, trying to find out about the "break-in oil".
Very good .... post your answer when you get it:up: this statement "I peeked into the oil tank and it looked milky" makes me think moisture was present?? I stick to my post ...no such thing? Let us know

We do use assembly lube when our engines are put together but that is probably not what the milky look is. That is probably from moisture due to short trips or starting and shutting off with out getting the engine totally warmed up.

Thanks,

S&S tech

Hello, I've taken delivery of my new 2008 BigDog with the S&S 117" motor. I noticed the oil in the tank looked "milky", I was told that S&S puts break-in additives in the oil, and it's supposed to stay in for 500 miles. Is this true?

This just in from the good people at S&S !!! I'm a thinkn' I'm changing my oil.

Congratulations on the new ride - now you're gonna go nuts waiting for some riding weather. Heck, I've had mine for two years, and I'm getting stir crazy this winter!

(Go ahead - take a break from reading this stuff - go out to the garage and admire your new bike, and then resume - we all did it.) :D

Assembly lube is one thing ,"used till oil gets to the parts" but additives to the oil to help with break in ...don't think so. JMHO

The comment about abrasives in oil are crazy-don not listen

You absolutely can change your oil within the first 500. Only restrictions is running highway miles continually over 60 for long periods of time. Abrasives in the oil hahahaha. Dont listen to those guys
