I just got my Ridgeback on the 1st and I've already used the wisdom of others here to perfect my bike.

First off, Mr Buffer has to be hands down the BEST polish product out there! I've used many (not Wizards), but nothing compares to the ease of use and outstanding shine. I did my entire bike with very little effort (elbow grease), and only used a small amount (maybe 1/8 of the 12oz bottle) of the product. See for yourself!!

I've also flipped my plate and drilled an exit for any water (I didn't spray the board yet). I also punched out 2 of the stock exhaust restrictor plates, the 2closest to the engine. Nice deep sound, seemed loud enough for now. I'll post a sound clip for those interested later, I'm changing my oil (PurePower Filter) 'cause it looked like my oil is contaminated (only 29 total miles).

Mr Buffer is the billet, chrome, metal polish. You can get it at mrbuffer.com . The wax I use is from Adam's, go to adamspolishes.com easy to apply too, I use a random orbit polisher with the Adam's stuff.

08ridgid,

Congrats on the new scoot.....

With respect to your changing the oil, I thought that the initial oil contained one-time lubricant additives that should be left in until the first scheduled change. Does anyone know if that is the case ?

Yes, that is true. The pre assembly lube and all the contaminates help the rings and bearing seat themselves. If there isn't enough abrasives left in the oil for the first 500 miles, the rings will not completely seat into the cylinders.

Any engines always needs the original oil left in for 500 miles.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say ..there is no such thing /or i have never heard of such a thing ? Would this be a BD thing or S&S ? Where did you hear of this ???

barhopper

Another round please
I would think if the oil needed to be in the motor for the first 500 miles, BDM would tell you when you bought it and it would be in the manual saying not to change it for warrenty reasons.

Ha! some of you guys are sooo funny. The bike came by semi and was really dirty (like he drove with the doors open to keep cool).

I peeked into the oil tank and it looked milky, if the current advise is to leave it in I'll certainly do that. I've never had this concern before, but it sounds legit.

If I take off the reflectors will I go faster??

Okay, reflectors (check). stickers (check). Is there anything else? I'm sure glad I posted pic's of the bike, I've only had it 4 days now, I haven't even been down the driveway on it!!

No snow, but plenty of ice !! It's like 20 degrees outside.

I also sent a question to the S&S tech department, trying to find out about the "break-in oil".
