Blow Performance Exhaust

What do you think needs modification? Several cuts or just one?
Cut off and reposition both pipes near the head and remove the mounting bracket on the bottom. Might need to add a little pipe in between there but won’t know until they’re cut. Then line up and install the mounting bracket in the right place or imo it’s not necessary. The pipes are light and I don’t think it needs to be mounted on the bottom to the trans case. You have time and can see all this for yourself once you get the pipes.

Basically they just need to be lifted up?

This is a LSD pipe I modified to fit.
I pie cut the rear pipe only in two places to kick it out to clear the trans. Wasn’t that bad. The heat sheild still fit so I didn’t even have to re chrome. (Before I blacked out)

So to be clear I am not 100% sure what the deal was with Snuffys Blow Exhaust he got from Barnes, but I know for a fact that Barnes has modified Blow Exhaust for RSD BigDogs. I have seen them with my own eyes. Now maybe it’s only for the carb models and not the EFI that part I don’t know for certain. Or maybe he wants to be the ONE to sell& install the modified version. Whatever the case may be he has made a modified RSD version. IMG_7527.jpeg

I was under that impression as well but when I got them they were exactly the same as the LSD set we compared them to. The “modifications “ Barnes made was a hole on one side of the bracket was reamed out and made oblong. Then Andrew tells me on the phone that there is NO difference in the pipes for a LSD and RSD. I say bullshit. Knothead and I worked all day trying to get them to work. They did not. All blow exhaust come with the bung holes for the o2 sensors and include the plugs for carb bikes. We found no way to make them clear the final drive without cutting them.

With all that said I really wanted RSD but not happening. I then thought that the blow would work and wanted that. Not without modification. So I settled for the big radius and they sound good, and look better than the 2into1 I had on there. Hopefully you will have better luck.

I have to say I'm really puzzled about this issue. When you look at Andrew's website it's full of BIG DOGS so he could easily install a set in 15 minutes. Why would he jeopardize his reputation by selling a misrepresented product? Now...don't misunderstand...I absolutely believe Snuffy about them not fitting properly. It's a real puzzle to me. I still haven't received mine and I'm hoping that after Snuffy spoke with him he actually tried to install them on one of the shop bikes just to be sure. As far as I'm concerned I don't even plan to raise the issue with Andrew because he's not going to give a refund anyway. I've spent a serious amount of $$$ on this rebuild, my only concern right now is finding a set of pipes that are similar to FSD or BLOW so I can finish the build. I can always resell the BLOW later. By the way, can you tell what year that K9 is in the picture? That certainly looks like a BLOW exhaust to me.

I am sure it can be done. I’m saying that the is no way in hell that the pipes for a LSD and a RSD are exactly the same. I got what I got and we even crushed a gasket trying to put them on at an angle. I just know these won’t fit my 08 K9 without modifying. I’m not blaming anyone and never said anything because I have had good luck with Barnes in the past and didn’t want to badmouth the guy. Hopefully you won’t have the same experience as I did. I would wait until you get the pipes to see.

I agree. There are only 3 or 4 places to get BIG DOG parts and tech advice. Barnes was the ONLY place to sell a drive gear (short Belt kit) so I was greatly relieved to find that. I'll take the loss before even considering alienating him. Also, other than BAKER, I don't know anywhere else that repairs/rebuilds our transmission. Speaking of which...last week I needed to replace all the bolts on my oil Pump. I didn't want to break any of the seals so I bought a special Clamp (reverse...spreads). My plan was to place the Clamp between the transmission and oil Pump, retaining pressure while I removed/replaced 1 bolt at a time. It seemed to have worked perfectly. However, when I finished I noticed a trickle of transmission fluid coming from the outer seal on the drive gear shaft. I checked the bolts on the outer plate and 3 were not quite tight. Next morning I noticed about a half teaspoon of fluid had leaked again. I gave the outer plate bolts another twist. Thinking I might need a new seal I sent Andrew an email. However, following morning I found no more leakage. While using the Clamp I probably put enough pressure on the loose outer plate to open a tiny gap in the seal. The reason I'm doing this total Rebuild is because of a hurricane over the winter which blew off my tarp and covered my bike in Salt water. EVERYTHING made of steel rusted...see pics. It destroyed everything...every Steel bolt, rust under the fenders, bolts inside the wheel hubs...a real mess. So, I'm making great progress. Complete new front end, tank & fenders are at the paint shop, all the chrome is boxed up ready for chrome at SpaceCoast. I'll keep an eye on the transmission but I think it's ok.
