Last Friday was my service date at the dealer to get my new voltage regulator plus a replacement starter (mine is leaking) and now my third rear tire with new bearings. But it was a rainy week so I delayed the service.
I'm on my 8th starter and the last one is the one that lasted the longest but ended up breaking in half.
This one has been doing good but it's leaking so my service warranty girl got me a new one. The replacement starters are good for 90 days so I called on day 89 and was able to get a new one.
The voltage regulator is a recall item so will have that replaced although mine is fine since I have 42,000 miles on it. I would guess that if its going to fail it would have done so by now!
My tire is shot, I replaced that last one at 19,000 miles after my cross country trip. This one has even more miles on it. Last time I emailed Avon with a testimonial and they sent me a t-shirt and a Hawaiian shirt which was kinda cool. I have over 23,000 mile on this tire. It's flat spotted but still in good shape.
I just called the dealer to ensure they had bearings in stock as I will have them replaced also. They are supposed to be done every 10,000 miles so I'm over due for them.
Here is a pic of my last tire;
My bike is in pretty good shape for an old bike with a lot of miles on it. After re-wiring it with all the die-electic grease, shrink wrapping the connectors and filling the ends with silicone the electric system is doing great.
I replaced all the plugs on the brake rotors recently so the brakes are good. Now new tires and I'm ready to head cross country again!
Now if only my tank was done. My brother is going to open it up for me to give me some more shape to it and another gallon of gas. It's a nightmare out here in the West wondering if I'm going to run out of gas between gas stations. The adventure of the West! :flag:
Going to be a cold ride tomorrow. The season is coming to an end but this week is suppose to be rain free so I need to get this service done. Should be a good trip.
Later,
Ray
