I'm gonna call Bandit today and see if that price is accurate. That's why I am mentioning because Baker is really proud of their carrier comes with the inner hub and carrier is $400...ouch.

Inner hub is $125 and if the bandit is $136 then you are out the door with all good parts for $260 instead of $400.

Eric,

does the inner hub for the baker fit on the bandit basket and vice versa? And let us know if you find out anything on the pricing.....

Okay folks just got a call back from Bandit. Here is the full on scoop, I talked to him for a bit and asked if they are still selling like they used to and he said "They are still breaking, not as much as in the hey day but"

Anyways,

You can buy just the Carrier for $112 which works with the Baker Inner Hub and Bearing assembly. For $140 They will ship you the Carrier and new Bearing as mine as well replace the bearing if your pressing out the hub out of the stock carrier you'll probably trash it anyways.

They are still selling the Bandit Bruiser Setup for about $400 which comes with everything except the INNER HUB which you have to use your stock one, or for about $500 you can buy the WHOLE Bandit Clutch/plates/hubs and all just drop it in.

I ordered a new carrier while I was on the phone with him mine is fine but next time I have the primary off I'll swap it out, almost sprung for the whole setup. But new carrier & bearing from bandit and an inner hub from Curtis will get you all going for about $265 which is the route I am going to take. I think the Inner Hub has to be pressed in, can anyone confirm this?

Oh and they are in stock - Mine is being shipped out today.

Yes, in my opinion if your gonna spend $400 for a baker carrier just buy the whole damn clutch assembly for $500 comes pre-assembled.

Now if you want to go cheaper, you can go my route. I don't have the 5 bones at the moment to drop on it...but maybe i will later and sell this carrier

SKOGDOG

One of the old ones.
Thanks for the work on this one, Eric...you are the man! I already have the Dog reassembled and changed oil, or I would go that route too. If it breaks, I'll follow your lead. It sounds like a very adequate setup, especially for a stock engine , or one with mild improvements like mine (585 cam, decked, V&H, etc.). The stock clutch holds my engine just fine, and I am not too rough on clutches, either.
All set to leave for Chicago in a week or so, and then of course Sturgis. I have to work in July! Dammit....on a short leash for a month.

Glad I saw this, I just took mine apart today to find the same thing, a broken carrier, and started searching for a new one so I can get the dog back on the road. Big question is, anyone know how difficult it is to press out the old inner hub and press it in a new carrier? Everything seems to look good on my setup besides the cracked carrier, 12 clutch plates look good as far as I can tell and the rest of the clutch housing looks good but pulling this apart is the first time I've even dug into a bike primary/ clutch. So need to decide if I want to go the same route as Eric or just buy the whole setup.

Your gonna want a new hub regardless. That one you have isn't heat treated baker has an updated one.

Up to you either buy a whole bandit setup for just under $500

Or buy the bandit carrier and hub from baker which cost about $300 after shipping.

If you got the extra 2bones go bandit

Nope Curtis sells the hub alone for $125. Call baker direct monday since Curtis is tied up they should sell you just the hub. Heat treated

Baker won't sell just the Carrier gotta buy hub too and they want $400. Go bandit route saves $125

Hey Eric, when you talked to Bandit you say the entire unit is $500? Im guessing that you still reuse the outer chain sprocket with starter ring? Do you know if that includes the inner hub and the carrier? If so did you ask if they would sell a carrier with the bearing and inner hub assembled to use with the rest of the stock parts. Sorry to bug but hate how no one is open weekends.
