Y'all were mostly right...........

After the tire debacle last week, we took another weekender with the beautiful weather. Had a nice 120 mile ride to College Station with a buddy to visit our daughters.

About half way home the shifter linkage that several folks pointed out at Mastiff Dave's as too angled snapped right in half. It was not the heim joints, but the shaft itself. So, it needed replacing..........but the joints were not the first casualty. Thankfully a buddy and me got it working and we made it back home. First roadside repair victory, but my mud flap girl is gone forever :)

Eric - I ordered the shaft and what appears to be the longest of 2 spacers that came up in the search. It says it's 1 1/4", but measuring my setup, it would need 3" to make it perfectly lined up with the front control.

The spacer is only for the front - no room for the heim joint to clear the primary out back. Eric remembered that when we were at Dave's we speculated that a larger spacer would likely hit the rear cylinder. After discussing it, Eric sent the medium sized spacer. If it clears, it won't be perfectly straight, but it'll be better than the old one. If it doesn't fit, guess I'll have to swap it for the smaller one.

USPS says I won't get it till Saturday, but they were early last time, so hopefully they will be again. :)

Eric fixed me up with the right spacer. USPS pessimistically said it wouldn't get here till Saturday, but even with the holiday yesterday, I got it today.

And of course it wasn't as easy as you'd think. The rear bolt was stuck in the old heim joint. I eventually got it loose, but the threads were shot. I got a parts store substitue for now, so I'll have to order something decent looking at swap it out later.

At least the 2nd try at the Twisted Sisters this weekend is a Go !!

Glad you got it in time! I figured you would, I think USPS just is trying to save themselves now and throws out a pushed out arrival day to give them extra time.

Either way looks good! Hope this ride goes smoothly! Haha
