Oscar, Bob normally sets up the carbs pretty good for each area he sends them to.
I would start off by shutting off the accelerator pump then working from there.
Get a new set of plugs then start her up and adjust the air/fuel mixture screw as stated above.
You shouldn't see anymore black smoke after shutting the accelerator pump off. If you get your air/fuel mixture screw set properly then you can turn out your accelerator pump screw 1 - 1 1/2 turns out. I like to keep mine low as it chokes the motor just like the enrichener.
Your jets should be in the ball park as I said Bob does a good job of setting them up for you.

Keep us updated though,
Ray

Well, I've been fucking with this carb for 3 hrs! I went as far as putting the stock pipes back on the bike. The black smoke is gone, now I get a rediculous high idle with severe sneezing out of the carb - along with the popping! WTF! starting to get severely pissed off. I'm gonna have to call Bob tomorrow sometime and ask him a few questions.

Didn't Grim have this same issue with his on the other site? I think it was him anyway. I'm 2 short of a 12 pack and don't see myself working on the bike for the rest of the day,bad things might start happening:bang: :bang: :bang: .

Thanks to all for your imputs.

OSCAR Is possible that you have a loose,or broken wire at the coil? Are you getting any fuel out the drain line from the bowl?

I was about to mention intake leak but Sul beat me to it. Just be patient Oscar. That's the reason I didn't go for the bling.

I had a problem with my 05 BD Ridgeback ...let me restate that I had a problem with Shell gas ..it is oxygenated gas ... the manual says do not run oxygenated gas ... I unknowingly did and the bike ran like crap ... I thought I toasted my engine ... but after a few prayers and reading the manual for some reason I came across the warning about oxygenated gas. I drained the tank the float put some good gas and the bike ran like a champ. So beware of where you by your gas ... unfortunately milk is cheaper than gas ... remember the good old days when gas was .27 cents a gallon? Sorry I'm showing my age .... good luck and don't give up on your bike ... she'll come around and you will love your bike like you really should ... I love mine ...

Oh I forgot to mention about the plugs ... don't throw them away ... get yourself a plug cleaner if you have an air compressor ... it will make your fowl plugs look like new ... and they cost only about $15 ...

for as much as a couple of plugs cost....you would be better just buying a new pair of plugs....they are not that much money....just a thought..

Alright guys here is the scoop -

After getting of line last night I didn't want the xXx to finish kicking my ass so here is what I did.

I took the tanks off of the bike, removed the ignition / coil to get to my carb. bolts, removed the carb, took the shit apart and found an ass load of what looked to be metal dust type stuff. Put the carb back together, reinstalled on the bike, drained the tank, refilled with fresh gas, put everything back together triple checked everything drank 4 more beers, (did not mess with the carb at this point, all was left at the last setting) tried to fire up the bike, - - - - - Forgot to install the plugs! Don't fuck with me I was severely buzzin' at that time!

Installed the plugs turned the bike on and it fired right up! Slight adjustment was made to the carb and now she runs like a kid looking for tree to piss on:whoop: . Again thank you all for the advise and help. That's what makes us a tight knit family here. :2thumbs:

The one thing that didn't occur to me was to check the jet sizes while I had it apart. I'll be dropping it off to a local place that tunes to get it finalized next wee sometime so I'll keep you all posted. I'm going to go thhrough the whole bike and make sure that I didn't forget anything. Finished up at 10:00pm last night, neighbors hate me right now. Oh-Well!

Once again - A big thank you to all!

good work Oscar - I'm actually glad you forgot the plugs when you tried to start it - I did the exact same thing when I did mine! of course, you don't need to take the carb off again to check your jets - just remove the bowl

I'm glad everything worked out for you Oscar. When I get stuck or if something doesn't work after a couple of tries, I usually leave it alone for a while. Clear the head and start fresh, that usually works in your favor. The more you screw with something that doesn't work the more pissed off you get. Then you get fustrated in things just don't go smoothly.

Thats cool Oscar....you got it figured out  ....I was almost going to mention that....I remember Gas saying something about sometimes you will find that dust type stuff from the chroming process....might be a good idea to add a fuel filter

Sounds like "XXX" failed to inspect the carb prior to shipping ... I can understand Oscar's frustration as his scoot was working fine before installing the "XXX" - I hope Oscar calls Bob to let him know what happened so he takes a bit more care.
