Xxx carb beware!!

I was reading forum upon forum of people that are happy with Bob at triple X carbs, happy with the product and also happy with the service. Well i ended up sending bob my ccarburetor about a month ago. Everything was going just great, we had discussed many ddifferent options and he was very helpful. Well about 3 weeks later he gives me a call and ssays the carb is done and Its time to pay for the services. I gave him my credit card number and I thought I would be happy from there on out. Well i check my account two days later and he double charged me for the carb. I give him a call and he says he typed a number wrong for my area code and it has happened before, insures me that it won't process and I won't be charged twice. Well three days later I get charged almost 900 dollars for my carb job. I call bob and he says this has never happened since he has owned xxx carbs. He eventually puts the money back in my account. Well i get my carb a few days later and I was installing roller rockers at the time so I was oblivious to the fact that my thunderjet is the wrong color. Well i figured they made a mistake and messed up the jet color, no big deal. An hour later bob calls and says he sent me the wrong carb, mine is in new jersey and i need to ship it to this guy ASAP. Well now I'm pissed, the guy with my carb calls me and tells me I'm way behind on a bike build and i need it shipped next day air. Next morning I ship the carb next day air, came out of pocket 115 dollars to send it. Big mistake, I call bob and he blows a gasket but agrees to reimbursement me the full amount. Then he sends me an email stating that we screwed him over big time on this deal and only part of it was his fault. I tried to bite my tongue but I sent him an email reminding him of everything that has gone wrong so far which was just about everything. He sends me a check two weeks later, the check bounces and gets returned to me, giving me another fee with Wells Fargo. Still haven't heard back from him. This was by far the worst experience I've ever had and feel I need to tell my story. As many good things as I've heard about him and his company, I would be cautious.

WOW
Times Are Getting Harder And Harder For Some.
I've Never Heard Anything Like This About Triple
I Know How Both Parties Feel Here But As A Business Owner Serving Customers You Really Have To Absorb The Issue And Cost And Get It Resolved With Minimal Impact To The Customers

Have You Received YOUR carb Yet?

Exactly. Like i said I have heard nothing but great reviews, I read a few forums about errors with his carbs that were resolved quickly. Don't get me wrong I am very pleased with the product, but to have all these problems that 'have never happened since he has owned the company?'.. Like you said customers are the only thing that truly matters in this situation, and to play it off that it's not entirely his fault is beyond frustrating. At this point I just want to wash my hands of the entire terrible situation. Everything that could go wrong went wrong besides my motor melting down from incorrect jetting. At this point It has been a constant struggle that I want to be DONE with!

And yes I did receive my carb. The guy who received my carb called and said I will send you you're carb next day air if you send mine next day air, well seeing as though he was in a bind and was past his deadline I did him a favor and sent it UPS next day air ( early morning) which was even more expensive. Come to find out he sends me mine second day air ( end of day)!! I didn't have any kind of deadline to uphold but it didn't surprise me. Just icing on the cake. Needless to say, next time I need carb work I will be looking elsewhere. I was told to buy a Mikuni 48 by a reputable source instead but didn't want to spend the extra money, and didn't want to modify my manifold and dual runner intake. Looking back I could have saved money, time, and half a bottle of aspirin if i would have taken the advice and bought the Mikuni.

I'm guessing the guy saw the $115 price tag and said....NOPE.

Anything that can go wrong always goes wrong with me. Something that should take 2 hours takes 4. 1 day is 2 days.....

I'm looking forward to my build being over I

Sometimes mistakes are made by the repair shops and in most cases they always do you right. I sent several e-mails to Bob some time ago regarding the fact that my Dog would not start unless I used the enricher on my XXX TAZ Carb, but he never replied. I wasn't trying to hit him up for a free this or that I just wanted to find out if he had time to fix it and I'd ship it to him. I took it apart my self and rebuilt it using all new jets, and found that it had a lot of yellow crap inside the bowl. Anyway it works good again, what I do now is shut off the fuel and let it idle until it dies, that way there is no fuel in the carb should it sit there for more than a week.

All is good XXX is a good Carb, give it a few days I am sure he make good on his bad check. :2thumbs:

My luck! I sent my carb last Monday to Bob. He said it would take a few days to upgrade it. Seems like a great guy on the phone and very courteous. Tried to call him today, left a message and now read the above. I sure hope he isn't on some downward spiral from a quality/service perspective. Why do I feel paranoid now

I would have to say my experience with Bob is 180 degrees different from what you describe. Sounds like you got caught in the perfect shit storm, which does suck, Iv'e been there before.

I do agree, I'm sure I just got caught in a streak of bad luck. The product does speak for itself however, very nice machiene work and power is great. My intent was not to tarnish the reputation of a guy who seems to have built a good customer base, just a couple of tips to watch for If you might be sending work his way
