Feel free to cut and paste this in a message to the FACTORYyou know ray there's five thousand members on this forum who probably make up a lot of the income for that place who would back you in getting there parts elsewhere if the "factory" doesn't make it right for you, just sayin there are after market parts for almost anything they supply! Feel free to cut and paste this to any e-mail to the company about your displeasure with there work! Actually I would be sure that you have a witness to the fact that the bandit was in the primary when you let them have it because you and your buddy had just adjusted the clutch a week or two before they got it.

I wish I had more money.

Hate to hear about your misfortune, but I can't help but wonder if the bandit is really worth the extra cash. How long did you ride after getting your bike back from having the frame work done? Didn't you notice a difference in your clutch? If not, then there must not be that much difference in the stock vrs bandit. Still, someone should be liable and needs a good ass whoopin.

Maybe we need to look at the other side of this. When the Factory replaced the frame just maybe they were giving Ray a new clutch and some other goodies as a favor. BD knew that Ray was the mileage King and why would they steal his clutch or it just got misplaced and they decided to put in a new clutch. Just my .02

This kinda makes sense.

I guess I should clarify here.
At no time was a statement made that "Big Dog" stole the clutch or that the "Factory" stole the clutch. I simply stated that someone at that location took it. We don't blame or hold Big Dog responsible for this act.
As far as the worth of the bandit.
I would gladly put my money down again for it. My ride is not a race bike and I run a hydraulic clutch system so I don't really notice a performance value and the clutch pull issue is not a factor as the hydraulic clutch makes it far easier. The huge benefit to me is knowing that I have reliable billet parts that likely will not fail while I'm riding. The large number of clutch carrier back plate failures led to my initial decision. Opening my primary and finding mine to be warped and the beginning of cracks reinforced that decision.

Curtis, One time you ate a kitty? How ironic. I got kicked out of the Boyscouts for eating a Brownie! :D

That is sad, but possibly the real reason most of us wrench our own stuff. There are very very few that can be trusted, and you usually get screwed when you let your guard down. It takes something like this to remind us all the reason our garages are full of tool boxs, our hands are grease riden most of the time as well. A wonderful reminder why forums like this are up and running keeping us all from getting screwed as often. Let me repeat that statement, A wonderful reminder why forums like this are up and running keeping us all from getting screwed as often.

I like messing with Ray about running out of gas, losing his kickstand , etc. but this kind of stuff pisses me off too. I lack the trust factor when it comes to leaving the scooter and my truck almost anywhere. I had a Ford dealership manager ask me " the other Ray" to take my truck to another dealership when it was under warranty to do warranty work after I blew a gasket  with him in the service bay area.

Again thank you all that really have knowledge of these scooters for helping us all that have less knowledge of them keeping them on the road. Greatly appreciated !

Wait I went back and used the search featurer for when Ray had the frame fixed. ON Page 8 Post 118, he said they told him they replaced the clutch and sent him back the Bandit.

Seems like maybe they were doing him a favor and maybe the memory is going.

SOB!!!!! Reminds me of that movie with Jack Nickelson where he said "Don't I look like the heal".
I completely forgot about this from 4 yrs ago. Last week when Curtis pulled his primary and found his clutch all chewed up and loose, we wondered if they had installed his Bandit wrong. I said let's just pull my primary on my bike and look at how my Bandit is installed and see if there is a difference. It needed servicing any how. So we pulled mine and I saw the stock clutch in there and said to him "My Bandit clutch is gone". I completely forgot that it was switched.
Only reason I got the Bandit was back in those days the stock clutch carrier from the 05's were breaking on everybody and we had a group buy on the Bandits here. So being it was less expensive than the BDM clutch I got it.
It was great to find that it was tight and clean after all these miles. So it didn't bother me, I adjusted the chain and put it back together.
I even talked to the folks at BDM a couple days ago and only told them when asked how many miles do you have on that thing now.

But just want to thank Tim for setting the record straight here. My CRS is really getting bad!!!!

Wasn't my intent to slam anyone or put out miss information. I try to my up most to keep all my threads here accurate and precise.
Apologies to all

Hey we all have our days. Glad it wasn't what it seemed at first. Also good to know the basic BDM clutch has held up. Of course with Raywood he may have more of a disaabilty being a man from the 70's and maybe some effect on the brain cells from aall those long times submerged!
