I'm not anyone to be giving advice on buying "used"...but in todays economy that would be my first choice.

Just like Bubblehead...I bought new ( but back in '04), and spent $5g more.

Do I regret it...nope, not a bit. I wanted a specific look...and I had to order to get it.

I totally agree with all. You could find a used, low mile, upgraded, already broken in BDM.................FOR CHEAP!!!!!! deals are out there

I am 61 and bought mine in March of this year. It is a 2008 and only had 2500 mi on it. I bought mine off Ebay. Got a great deal and I love the bike. It is a fun bike for short rides and for the torque and performance. I have 2 other bikes, a road bike and a sport bike, so I feel I have the bases covered now. Go for it!

I already chimed in but I was looking for an 08 mutt in black.
I found one with 54 miles on it for 16k.
I drove far to get it
That left me $$ for my 2up seat, bar ,pegs forward controls tags and other stuff which put me at 20k
I still am below new. I'm sure this winter my mods will put me in the new range but it will be exactly what I want.

Don' know about the new ones but my 04 took a good 3,000 to 5,000 miles to get really broke in.:job:
I see a lot of used Dogs with a couple thousand miles on them.
Seems like they've done some of the work for you!:2thumbs:

I appreciate all the feed back. I got no problem with nice used bike and saving money. One question. If the bike looks great, and checks out and rides ok mechanical good etc. Should I be more concerned with the "Year or the Mileage" ???

How I see the bottom line is
1. does the bike fit my wants & needs
2. do I like the color
3. is it mech. sound
4. are the miles right
5. is the price right etc.

not necessarily in that order but ya get the drift

Research then research some more... We are coming into the winter months where sales r down along with prices. When I first started looking I was looking at used as well. Then one day I found a fantastic deal on a new bike so I bought it. There r alot of left over new bikes as far back as 2008 if you look hard enough. Go to the BDM.com and search the dealers, then Cycle Trader, ebay, chopper exchange, etc: you will find one if your dedicated I did.
With the internet u can find a bike anywhere fly and pick it up or have it shipped the choice is yours.

Welcome to BDB.....:hi::hi:
Hit the nail right on the head.

If you plan on keeping it and find a new one you liked I'd buy it. If you want to save money or think you may sell later, then buy used. There is some good discounts on new bikes now. If you plan on keeping it who cares what you paid for it as long as its the bike your looking for. :zz2cents:

Nothing like new though :D Treat yourself it's your retirement!
You might be able to find left overs. That's what I did and saved thousands, only 20 miles and full warranty......but again there is nothing like "BRAND NEW"! Good luck in whatever your path is to an awesome bike.

I picked up a used yellow, 2007 k9 with 1,244 miles a month ago for $16. One heck of a saveing over a new one. It's a used buyers market now.

Good buys to be had, both new and used, but buy what makes you happy! Do your research, be smart, and then don't look back! :2thumbs:
