Wow - really surprised to see so many NFWs
It looks like some are looking at the question as "would you buy a new BDM?"
which I might answer no, simply due to the cost.
I purchased my 04 slightly used for about $17K, and there is no way I would pay $30-$40K for a new bike.
I've encountered many of the same maintenance/repair issues with my chop,
but my bike is a hotrod - rarely idling - its not a bike grandma is only gonna ride to church on Sundays - parts & connections are bound to rattle loose or fail when you fully enjoy the capability of the bike.
Will I buy another BDM?
Hopefully not for a while.
Would I buy a HD or a metric?

If I were to buy a new Bigdog today it would be the Wolf. I love the Prostreets! I would not modify it except for a set of engineered proven exhaust pipes and a accessory bolt-ons. No cams, no clutches, no belt drives, no performance this or that, just keep it like the BDM engineers designed it - SOLID.

We attended a local bike show a couple of weeks ago and I was checking out the Geezer rides....Ultra Classic to be exact. My wife doesn't like to ride as much any more so I thought maybe. We sat on a couple. Checked out the sound systems and cruise controls, big comfy seat etc. I said to her "what do you think" ? She smacked me right on the back of the head and said "you fuck'n crazy"? :spank:

I have had no problems with my bike. In 03 they used mostly standard components, so it has been easy for aftermarket pipes, mirrors, or what ever. I always wanted a Chopper. I looked at Iron Horse, Titans, and a few others. I was'nt sure about Big Dog at the time. What tipped the scale for me was the ride, the 2-up sissy bar set-up......and the troubled USED brands on sale that had been traded in on BD's. Every used AIH on the lot had some weird problem.

Based on the experience with this one and only BD I've owned.....Absolutely, I made the right choice.

I have had ongoing electrical problems with my 05 big dog chopper and the dealer in Tampa is worthless. I never had these kinds of problems with other bikes (Harleys)

I'm sure you can't be talking about Tampa BDM? You must be talking about Carl's.

I wish I had more money.
Sell it and go back with the Harley if it is an issue you aren't willing to tackle.
I saw where you posted this same post in another thread word for word. One guy offered to take you up one the bike. DO IT!

On my third big dog. Yes I would buy another. First 05 Chopper . Second a 06 K-9 and the third a 09 Wolf. Loved all three of the bikes. Found that any problem I had they fixed under warranty. Wolf is the beat riding bike of the three and the power of the 121 is awesome. Sound with the V_H pipes will blow you away.

I went for a little ride today and at one light a guy rolled down his window to ask where he could get one... the very next light the people in vehicles on both sides of me were trying to get my attention to tell me how nice it was... two lights later a person passing through the intersection almost caused an accident because he was honking and waving at me like a lunatic instead of watching the road. It drew a small crowd at one of the stops I made and there were countless other thumbs up and nods from others on the road even though I was only out for maybe an hour or so...

Whether or not I'd buy another in the future remains to be seen but it doesn't suck having the one I have now I'll tell you that much. It's been a lot of fun to ride and I'm glad BDM made an X-Wedge equipped model.

Being a new owner and owning a Harley I like the BDM
They have alot of stuff on it already
The harley you have to change half the bike to make it a custom
I do believe BDM has to work on their electrical systems
I never had a bike that you can't wash
Also would be nice to have a spedo that doesn't fog up
The problem is I am getting near 60 years old in a few years and I will probably just keep playing with the 09 coyote
But I have to vote yes it's a good bike
My big thing is it's USA made
I worked in Industry all my life making suff for USA
and I like USA made
I also think it's very hard to make a perfect bike in 15 years of building to make all the masses happy
Keep up the good work BIG DOG MOTORCYCLES
