I bought, and then sold, a 68 mustang vert on ebay

bought/sold a few other items too. on any big ticket items, i look for recent positive feedback on a member that's been around for a while and has multiple items bought and sold.... just like anywhere, takes a while to get a good rep, and no time at all to get a bad one

if I find the right deal, I'll be all over it

I bought an 05 ridgeback off ebay. Every thing he said it was for 15k. I rode it for 6 weeks then traded it in on an 08 ridgeback. I got my 15k back on trade. Great deal all around. Do the time and research. I have bought old camaros and other old classics with out hesitation from checking them and the market. I have resold most of which at a profit also. My 2 cents.:2thumbs:

I found mine on ebay. Had 160 miles on it and receipts for 42k worth of stuff (including bike). She (wife) caught him cheating, it was in her name because he didn't have good credit. Lein was 23k, I sent her bank a check for 23k and paid to ship it...pretty good deal if you ask me back in Sept 06 for an 06 K9.

I've bought two cars and my Harley off of ebay. No problems. I just put a deposit and said as long as it they were as advertised I would complete the purchase. So far so good. I bought my BD new from a dealer though.

I just bought my '07 off a guy in N.C. I live in Idaho. When I bought I was on the net for hours and hours. This is my first bike so I got a good handle on what was right, what was not. I found the bike on some web site that sells bikes. My entire deduction was in talking with the owner several times before I bought it. You can tell a lot by the way a person sounds on the phone. Of course I am a bit older (50) and have a lot of experience buying and selling. Anyway, this guy was solid on his price, had some trophies, he talked to me about the trophies, why he was selling etc... I saw a lot of bikes on ebay but personally wouldn't think of it -- cause it is such a mass selling outfit. You need to talk with people, i.e. owners, see how they are. I took two months of constant looking. I sent emails all over -- even sent emails to business looking around. I looked, and emailed all across the state. The bike is excellent -- not a flaw. Take your time...

I GOT LUCKY AND BOUGHT MY 07 K9 ON EBAY FROM A COUPLE THAT WON IT IN A RAFFLE AND DIDN'T RIDE AND DIDN'T WANT THE BIKE. IT IS A LEVEL 6 DEMON RIP PAINT JOB (ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS). IT HAD 36 MILES ON IT WHEN I RECIEVED IT. (BOUGHT IT IN WI. LIVE IN TX) GOT A DRIVER TO GO PICK IT UP FOR ME. THE LIST PRICE ON THE BIKE WAS $36,158, AND I BOUGHT IT FOR $23,000. NOT BAD HUH?

i bought a 2005 chopper on ebay. also bought the warranty for $50.00 thank the lord...bigdog must have put $2500.00 in to it. i love it!! 31,000 miles and work on it all the time

bought my 08 pitty on ebay. they poked their ass shipping it. still, a great bike for a great price. went to ride it, oil light kept coming on... i checked it and it was about a quart short. i thought what a bunch of idiots. took the bike to the nearest dealer to get the first 500 service. got it back with a brand new scratch and once again the oil light came on when i was on the highway. of course its a quart short and none of the nearest gas stations carried the right oil. i read the manual and the pitbull is the only big dog in 08 that requires about a quart more than the rest of the line up. i guess im the idiot for assuming that big dog dealers read the manual. lol.

i think it was gas man who said, "why pay someone else to fuck up your bike?". words to live by...

Heads-up

Just to chime in here I have run into several 'questionable' ads within the last week or so. There are many good deals/sellers but also the a=holes.

I have found a few bad ads at CycleTrader as well.

Just be on your toes and do your homework/research thoroughly.

BTW I still don't have a BD yet but it ain't for lack of trying. I will pull the trigger one of these days.

Keep all the good info here coming guys.:whoop:

I plan to take some vacation time this month and make a personal visit to some of the sellers and check out there bikes. I still want a 2007 Mastiff but a few 2007 K9's have got my eyes too.

Curt

P.S. Has anyone ever dealt with Dream Machines in Dallas, TX? They are always selling no less than 20 used BD and those bikes are in/out the doors quickly. Just saying.

Hook up with RUFroggy if you get into Dallas. He has his bike worked on at Dreams and has good things to say about them.
I will tell you though, figure out if you want the Prostreet over the Chopper. I had a Mastiff but wanted a Chopper so upgraded and to save you some money just letting you know that if you really want a chopper then get one. But they both ride great so you will be pleased with each. :D :D
