Wolf S&S 121 C.I. X-Wedge

I have parts ordered including the VFI module. I'll post numbers after the install. One thing that was evident is how lean BDM has the X Wedge tuned for emissions. The HP #s recorded yesterday were in line with S&S #s

Mine is at the shop waiting for the new 569 cams. It already has the V&H pipes, and will get the new S&S larger air filter (I'm not going to drop 500 on the tuned runner thing), and the unlocked S&S VFI. If I can get into the 100's it will be worth it.

After the upgrade

I got my bike back today. It had the larger S&S filter element installed, the programable ECU, and the 569 Cams with the compression release. Dyno results showed just under 95 HP, and 120 ft/lbs TQ. It's a big improvement, and not yet fully realized.

The programable ECU still comes with RPM Nanny. You still need to run the break in miles for the motor before it "releases" the next few RPMs until you get to redline. Mine is still governed at 4500K, so you really can't see peak numbers. The truth is that I don't ride there anyway, but it would tell something to the dyno numbers guys.

The air filter sticks out a bit farther by a half inch or more. You can see the filter. Not as clean as stock, but huge airflow increase.

The easy start cams are great. It turns over like there are no plugs in the heads. With the old cams, I would close my eyes, cross my fingers, and punch the starter hoping it would turn over. This is effortless. I'm so thrilled that I've sent S&S an offer to do an ad spot for "Cam-Wow"! If you don't have the CR cams, you'll be thrilled with this.

I also have the V&H pipes. They are definitely louder now, but sound awesome.

I have 100 miles on today, and it's great. Definitely pulls harder, like a freight train. The torque is crazy, and the motor is basically stock with the exception of cams! There is some decel pop now, but I hope to get that addressed when I bring it in to merge the adjustable maps with the new base map.

That with two comments at gas stations and four "thumbs-up", it was a pretty good day. I'm glad to have the wolf back!

Does S 100 make a post ride spray to get this smile off my face?

Hi Mike, i just purchased a 2009 wolf which i will receive this thursday. Although i hope not, I am thinking i will have all the same issues you had. I am the second owner so S&S will not honor warranty. what did you pay to get all the work done?

Csaviano, you'll find that this is a great bike. The bike is perfectly rideable the way it is, but this is the "performance" thread. This is the group that can't leave well enough alone. My work was under 2K including the parts. I gained HP, tons of TQ, and easy starting, with a more efficient tune that isn't so lean. It was worth it to me. It would be a great winter project if the slow starting bothers you. Otherwise, ride and enjoy!
