WirePlus wiring on EFI models

I have uncovered a few installation wiring issues with the WP-374 on EFI models.

It seems that there is no mention in any instructions that I can find about the EHC (A1) pin, (NOT THE A-1 PIN) that feeds CONSTANT power to the EFI. Without this A1 RED wire connected to constant 12v power, the EFI unit will loose all learned map data when you turn off the key. It may need a 3 to 5 amp fuse in-line when connected to battery terminal for protection.

Also discussed with Don that both A19 and A20 that provide switched power to the EFI should be connected to the WHT/BLK pigtail from Plug#1 pin #8 ignition output power and not accessory power with speedo power.

Don at WirePlus has been made aware of these items.

I believe this information to be correct at time of this post.

Good info BigDogBro. I've been watching the threads on EFI installation of the WP modules and you just may be the first to install on the EFI model.

Do you have any pics of the install to the EFI?

There are a few EFI changes that need made to my How-To, but the Mods locked my How-To's up, or closed them anyway, so I can't update them any more.

I've gone in numerous times to update them and can't. The EFI wiring was done at that time by schematic only and never with a bike in front of me. But it has been figured out since.

The A1 red wire needs to be run through a small fuse and connected directly to the battery as you stated. It needs tested on what size of fuse, somewhere between 1 and 5 amps. More than likely the smaller.

The A19 and A20 leads need connected in with the Ignition White/Black of the Wire-Plus, as the A19 is the Thunderheart power lead on Carb models and both of them control the EFI/Ignition module on the EFI bikes seens how the ignition is built into the EFI module.

Let me know if you have any other questions, just PM me.
