R.I.P. kit is the way to go. Very simple to install just take your time. Really is plug and play. Bought through Curtis and was a great person to do business with also spoke to Matt(KMW) and offered me his time if I have any questions with installing the unit.(Curtis did help me through a issue which involved a EFI issue) Thanks to all.

This is an old text from 2015.. what trouble are you having with yours?? You can re-wire if you want but there are several problems with doing this. 1 is no one makes aftermarket controls for these, the handlebars are larger than stock H-D bars, so H-D controls won’t fit.
Cost is another problem. Every single person that has had it re-wired says it’s a minimum of $1500. Some people pay as much as $3000. ( new bars, controls, yanking out all the old wiring and replacing it with new). Post up what problems your having and most of the time it’s a pretty easy fix. Mine needed a new EHC and the other one needed a backbone harness. Each only took a couple of hours to fix and now I’m rolling great. Go to introductions introduce yourself, tell a little about yourself and the problems your having and the guys will fix you up. Post some pictures of your bike and the problem areas. Welcome and good luck.

There is another way.....pull the ignition, starter, compression release leads out of the harness and leave everything else alone. Wire the starter to a temp. closed marine grade switch and the others to a switched, constant voltage source and you are bulletproof at that point. That is the way my 04 chopper is wired now.....

Hi Adam, I just noticed your on two threads about this same issue. You will have to ask GDOG for sure but his fix is a workaround for a failing EHC but only for the circuits he is referencing. He is keeping the original EHC to operate the rest of the bike. You indicated in the other post that 5 wires in the harness got fused together. There is no telling without troubleshooting what they are. Maybe troubleshoot your system before you order the new harness and EHC. Who knows you may save yourself some money.
