Wire Plus/Kill Switch

I am saving up some $ to buy the wire plus for my pitbull. For those that have already done the install, do you retain the factory kill switch function on the handlebars?

yes....actually, once you do the install...turn key on to second position... and hit start. No need to hit run anymore...as once the key is turned on...the ignition is hot. The Run/Off switch on the bars will kill the motor....takes a little to get use to :2thumbs: That is how it is on my 06 K-9

Thanks Dave. I had a shop install a crane ignition and we had them do the install by bypassing the EHC and wire directly to the battery/coil and switch. I lost the kill switch on the handlebars during this process so know everything is done through my key. Definately some ketting use to. I was hoping the wireplus would get my kill switch functioning

The Wire Plus for the '03 is "plug and play". You will need to re-wire your coil back into the harness where you took it from and the kill switch will work. The only re-wiring required from the '03 are the wires going to your dash lights. Good luck!

I believe once you do the WP...you will have your kill switch function back...you won't have the EHC anymore...don't know if your 03 is different from my 06...

Rocky, my wife, has an '03. I have an '05. Both have the wire plus. Her bike was a breeze compared to all the crimping and plugging that come with the newer models.
