Wire Plus Install, glue in your key switch!

Rather then spend the time trying to tap those tiny little holes in the thin metal around the key switch, just glue it in with black RTV. Holds great, rock solid once it's dry and no broken taps or tricky drilling! Just put a bead around the neck where it goes through the side cover and a thick bead underneath to hold it in place. You will still have to grind the cover for clearance and flatten out the threaded portion on the switch.

That probably holds better than the drill and tap, and looks good too. I took a dremel and cleared the back of the cover out where the switch sit in the hole deep enough to use the outside nut that came with it. Looks like it was made for it, drilled and taped it too just because I had already bought the tap and set screws. I burnt the dremel up, an old one anyway but it took a little time and patience , humm like polishing billett wheels.

Also put some loctite on the nut on the outside of the switch housing. Mine loosened up and fell off.

I tapped mine and put in two stainless set screws when I converted over a year ago. Good thing...I had to replace my sportster switch already.... one of the screw housing broke off - don't know how that happened though.

Hope it works out well for ya.

If you use the Wire-Plus switch, the housing doesn't need ground out anymore. The switch is small enough diameter that it slides right in.
