Going from a Big Dog EHC to WP you should add a fuse for WP. The original breaker or fuse stays in place. Look at my picture next to the ignition module. The EHC system protected itself with its own electrical components. I think you need a service manual, WP installation instructions, & a WP drawing.

If at all possible, find someone who knows WP close by to help you straighten this out because all installs are going to be different.

Okay I got some questions, the inline fuse you're talking about is the 173-000039-00 kit? Also is it being hooked up between the voltage regulator and battery? Do I have to remove the circuit breaker and replace it with this kit?

Just buy a inline spade fuse holder at autozone or even on fleabay. I have a 30A fuse between the VR and battery and a 30A on the power wire to the key switch. I also have a 20A inline to the power module. It's an 04, all the fuses are under the seat.

Get rid of the circuit breaker, fuse will go quicker.

I agree, get rid of the circuit breaker. Circuit breakers fail, and when they fail closed, you have no protection.
Then if your voltage regulator fails your screwed.
Fuses are safer.
Blown fuses make you find out what is blowing them instead of just hitting the reset on the circuit breaket (or it reseting itself if it is that kind).:roll:

Update: received my new WP switch module July 18th. Pretty good turn around. Unfortunately I was on vacation of a couple of weeks. Back home now and installed the new Switch Module. All is good again with the Dog. Now I just need to button everything up and Ride. No explanation was provided from WP. They also asked NO questions.

I myself have installed a wireplus and feel that the boys from wire plus ought to be putting their 2 cents worth in this. I personally think the price we pay for it and the trouble it is to put it in anyway, and it not being a performance part they should take care of it for a lot longer. Especially if they have confidence in their own parts.

I was 50 miles outta salt lake in Morgan, Utah when mine took a shift. Rode bitch home on a road king. Wireplus should pay my ass for doing that. Then I had to buy a switch anyway. Company should cover the product design, whoever does the quality control or they'll go down like bdm

Anyone know if they have made changes to the design to prevent these failures, or are we still a fire waiting to happen.
I do have to say, since mine failed under warranty, I was very pleased with their response. New module quickly for no money or hassle.

Seems like I warned the forum of this a while back and no one seemed concerned at the time...all blame was put on the EHC's...I have seen more ignition switches and ignitions themselves fail long before the EHC. The guys that might have had a $100 ignition switch fail, went with the $500+ WP system with the new $5 ignition switch, and walla...no more issues.
A lot of this can be prevented by taking the time and doing some electrical diagnostics testing. A simple multi meter will work for most all the testing of switches and wire harness...Curtis can test your EHC if any question of it failing.

The entire system, Lol ...The old 5 degree style ignition switch, the thunderheart ignition system, they can fail long before the EHC itself.
The biggest killer I've seen is water and people hooking up a lot of other electronics, such as LED lighting and not doing it the correct way. Vibration and heat can be a killer as well.

The whole system does suck.....The retarded 5 volt system, the super thin wire, The crappy connectors that are not weatherproof type connectors...

And the "LIBERACE" approved soft touch buttons on the hand controls....... Would have been a lot more easy to make it 12 volts and HD style hand controls...
