Piece of cake. I went with the .600 and it made noticeable difference for me.
yep same here! the first summer I had the scoot...I was running around with the stock .569 cam...the following spring...noticed a day and night difference after I went to the .600 cam!:2thumbs: nice upgrade!

Hey outdoorsman, I live near Appleton just a couple of hours away from Mad-town. I just finished a cam swap myself. Did some checking around and S&S recommended a .585 cam. They said anything bigger would not gain anything unless I increased the compression. I ended up going with a Dave Makie .580 cam and just completed the install last week. Can't wait 'til Spring to tear up the roads!

I installed the .585 cam in mine
The only reason I went is because S&S said compression was not high enough ,loose too much because of the overlap on the cam
But now I have no regrets using the .585 cam it screams compare to the .546 and for now I was able to leave all other componets alone in original engine
If your looking for an S&S cam its great
There are also alot of aftermarket ones as listed by other members that are probably great also that you can leave rest of valve train alone
The behieve springs do cause less stress on othe parts
For new bikes with behieve springs and non roller rockers.
I believe its a great combination with original valve componets Its not weak by any means.
Just my 2 cents

I am running the .600 cam in mine..as said..I already had the red stripe .640 springs in...I just did the cam install...I didn't do any heads or motor work.....I noticed a day and night difference from just throwing in the .600:whoop::2thumbs:
pulls alot harder and sounds better!
there are a few more things that I want to do to the bike before I start messing with the motor....to each their own! good luck on what you do!

I wish I had more money.
How big are you wanting to go? If you plan on getting your heads and stuff done later anyway I have an s&s 631 laying around here somewhere.

pretty sure that 631 wants like 12-1 comp.

was wondering how different that'd be from the 640

On the list you've posted it says 12.1 for smaller engines. I just have a little ol' 107. What do they consider smaller? I had it in my bike and didn't know it. I went to have the 600 put in and the guys at the shop told me after they put the 600 in that I already had the 631. Well hell I already had that in. I wish they would have told me a hour or two earlier. I really liked it even with the lower compression. Once you got up around the 3500 to 4000 mark it was like an extra throttle or nitro button. Rocket time. Now all that being said I wonder what it would be like after the head work and the 631 back in.
I may slide that thing back in and give it a test run. Run it to the dyno and back.
