that's right,if u like to ride what everyone and their granny rides get a harley,but if u want to stand out,get a big dog,i used to to be a part of that h.d group,but i got tired meeting myself every 2 miles.

You think Harley dudes hate Big Dog? Try riding a Honda around one. Sounds the same with the same performance but better reliability at half the price and yet when they find out it's not a Harley then the conversation is over.

I've noticed many Harley riders won't extend "the wave" or even a "head-nod" acknowledgment when I'm riding my K9, which I don't understand. Having owned Screamin' Eagle Harleys for a number of years, I'd wave to anybody on a bike. We're all part of the same two-wheel brotherhood, as I see it. Hey, life's too short..enjoy it while you can! My motto - be kind to everyone..if they choose not to reciprocate, well..they'll have to atone for their actions on judgement day! :whoop:

Speaking from a passenger point of view(I don't have a Big Dog but I have a Big Inch chopper) it's comfortable, reliable, sleek nice designs(on ALL of the Big Dog) they have power! If you notice, all HDs are the same, same shape, same curves they haven't come out with anything new or likable. Big Dog's always look SWEET! My husband says his K9 is more comfortable to ride long distance than his Street Glide ever was! :cheers:

Well many HD rides will tell you everything wrong with another brand just like many other with a different brand. Part of brand loyalty but many times the stuff one will say is not based on fact, more of what the heard or a friend or a friend cousin had one.

Having own a BD and other brands including HD, I will say any American V-Twin will require more maintenance and hands on than some of the others. That said, pretty basic machine and not hard to work on a maintain.

From my own experience, I have a 2005 which many consider the bastard year. That said, I have rode many miles on mine and never has it let me stranded or lacking a smile and enjoyment of the open road.

I think the case for any vehicle is good maintenance and sensible use. For me, I keep the mods to a min (cam, pipes and a few other, nothings extensive) and well maintained, much of which I do myself and the stuff I cannot nor do not want to, take it too a shop that knows what they are doing.

I can honestly say that I have been on many a rides while a good friend of mine and others could not due to their HD were in the shop again or waiting to get out as it stood in along line of others waiting to get fixed (or in many cases F-up) by the local HD wrench.

Many of the things you will hear from non-BD owners are not based on personal knowledge or facts much the same as some BD owner will say stuff about other brands. Many times it is "A Friend of my friend's cousin ahd one and....."

IMHO, BD is a good motorcycle but does have it own unique issues and will require some good TLC, but the same can be said for any MC be it a Honda, a Duc, GasGas, or Vespa. Key is to do some realistic research before buying one and to make sure it or any other make meets your needs.

Once a make and model is identified then get out there and ride be it on the Vespa, Honda, Yammy, Triumph or some Italian beauty or an old Url or a cool BD.

Be your own rider and go with what is best for you and make you happy.

BTW if you could get that crotch rocket over to the US when you come, it sure would be fun on the Dragon at Deal's Gap TN, hell I would even join you if possible.

Ps One last note, on customer service, my experience with BDM has been excellent, much better than any HD shop or for that matter any shop in the last 20 years or more. Maybe back when HD was still being sold by mom and pop shops and dealing with the old non-cool lable and AMF around the neck. As many of the newer HD go out of buisness, maybe some will still be around to remember what kept them alive during the dark days and they were not people that came into to buy overpriced leathers and happen to pick up a bike to go with their new matching helmet and fanny pack!

i have friends with k9's ,,,,they definetly dont say that.

Well that may be true but I guess it would depend on one's diffinition and criteria for better ride.

I have a Buell 1125 and it rides better than my Mastiff if I am talking about on the twisties, speed factor, but if I am talking on comfort, no way in hell!!

I sold my 06 Street glide for my K-9, This bike way out rides that Harley and the comfort is 10 times better for me the reason that is. On the street glide i felt squished on it no room to move short wheel base cramped style just plain uncomfortable. I can ride this K-9 all day and not feel cramped up no sore ass rides like a dream :cheers:

Well said ! Its been my experence that HD guys are always coming up to check out my K-9, But its all about whats right for you.
Now about not getting the "nod" haven't got that up here 2 wheels is 2 wheels, Now I will say I have a real hard time giving the "nod" to a guy in full leathers and a full face helmet on a fucking vespa.

I own both an 03 Chopper and an HD Dyna and love both of the bikes but they are definitely different machines. When I first got the Dog I didn't seem to grasp that, haven been riding HD's for a long time. My personal experience has been this. I really do love going out on the Dog, love meeting people and this really helps out, where ever I go people want to talk about the bike, take pictures near it, it really is amazing. I was actually at a bike night, mostly HD's this summer and standing away from the bikes and people kept stopping and looking at the bike. I do find them to be like a finely tuned race car though, high maintenance and from what I have found not quite as reliable as the HD.
My experience with this particular Dyna has been really good as far as reliability but you just kind of blend in on it. Needless to say the Dog blows it away motor wise but then when it comes to handling its the Dyna. If I know I am going to ride up into the mountains and be riding through those switch backs I leave the Dog home!

The wife doesn't like riding on the back of the Dog and says the Dyna is better for her, she calls it the bike for when I go out as a single man, lol!

I have spoken to a lot of people that I meet riding Dogs, most love their bikes but few have been spared some type of electrical issues.

That's just been my personal experience and with that said, if it came down to keeping just one of them it would most likely be the Dog!

My Mastiff is far more comfortable than my harley, and thr Big Dog is just so much more than the harley that since buying the Mastiff 3.5 years ago, I have not once rode the harley. 500-900 miles a day and then again the next is easy to do, as many will attest to.

When I finally decided to sell the HD as it is no longer being used, the economy turned down, so now waiting till prices rebound a bit to sell.

Look at all the bikes you are interested in, ride em, reasearch them ( stay away from opinions by non owners) and go make your best deal that you can live with on one.

Lets ride sometime. :cheers:

I had an 2004 Dyna Wide Glide and sold it for the the K-9 and have no regrets making the change. As far as reliability my K-9 is just as reliable as the FXDWGI and would not hesitate to jump on the K-9 and ride across country. It's a great ride out on the open rode. IMHO

There is no way in hell a big dog is as reliable as a Harley Davidson. It's just not possible. That's some really poor advice.
