Which do I want ESC or RIP?

I just installed the ESC in my bike and couldn't be happier! Super easy install and super clean!:old2: I also got the electrical systems monitor added to it so my oil light doubles as a warning if the voltage drops too low or is too high, I can't say anything about the RIP kit, don't know anything about it, but I would definitely recommend the ESC from DOC, all my functions are working perfectly, the bike starts flawlessly,:whoop: and the peace of mind knowing your charging system is working properly is priceless! :old2:
My bike runs flawlessly,:here: blah blah blah,:chopper: is it off the stand?:oldrant::oldhardlaugh::oldhardlaugh:

Just crackin a nut:oldlaugh:

Man, I don't know what to think.
Why? either one will do you well. After October fest I'm going to pull out my clutch basket and see how my starter ring looks because of the bang, and at that time I believe I am also going to do the rewire. When I turn my key on I have a buzzing coming from under my seat that only started a couple months ago and I have installed a different battery and it still does it.

I went with the DOC ESC. I have a 2009 Ridgeback and the battery tray on the '08 - '09 Ridgeback sits higher so I had to cut a relief into the seat pan with a rotozip. No big deal. Get some material from hobby lobby and some spray on glue; all is well. The ESC also has a ceramic headlamp housing as well as no connector between the ESC and headlight. Good stuff and the Dead One is a cool cat to deal with.

Curtis, I tried every way possible and there's only one way the bracket would mount where the original EHC was sitting, I'll look at it again tomorrow but I'm sure I mounted it the only way using the bracket.

Has anyone else installed the RIP in a 2008 Ridgeback, if so, and you didn't have to modify your seat PLEASE let me know.

Just sayin.
If you wire your compression releases to the green wire going to the starter solenoid you take a chance of burning up your EHC. There are 2 high current capable outputs from the EHC associated with the start sequence. One is the compression releases and one is the starter solenoid. When you put the compression releases on the green wire which is the solenoid output you are greatly increasing the load on that output, asking for a problem. Harley uses an external start relay for this function.

Doug....glad to see I wasn't the only one that had to cut the seat (earlier post in this thread), I have a 2008 Ridgeback and the RIP I installed sticks up higher than the frame rail. I cut some of the foam from the seat bottom which allows the seat to sit flat on the frame without touch the RIP.

If I had a half a brain, I'd be dangerous, buzzing under the seat, turns out to be the fan running on the LED headlight, oops, forgot about that:willynilly::oldbang:

No matter what I replace my ECH with I am changing that back.
