Rear wheel came in last night and with a trial fit, I have to machine a spacer for the drive side today and install it tonight and will be ready to ride

made the shims at work for the rear tire yesterday and mounted rear wheel assembly last night. Fired it up and everything ran smooth on the lift. Supposed to be sunny and the mid-60's this afternoon:D. Time for a test ride:D

way the older Harleys worked:up:
You would think with the vibration it would crack the housings, I'm guessing I've lived in a box:rolleyes:

I like how the lift has a removable insert under the back tire, bike looks great, is that what you'll bring if you get to Bikeweek?

If we make the trip the K9 is definitely coming along:D The trap door on the lift is great for rear wheel work. If you noticed the 1x6 board to the right, I lay it across the lift and slide it under the tire to align the axle, Carolina engineering, but it works for me.

This picture is of a 1984 FXR, if you look at the front of the transmission you can see the mount that attaches to the motor. I help my neighbor put his back togeather. When he moved in the bike was in about 6 boxes and the kid didn't label anything that he removed.

Looking at the frame, the engine and tranny are bolted together and bolted to the frame at the front of the motor and back of the tranny, is this correct? What am I missing:confused:
You are correct the front of the motor is bolted thru a rubber insulator that is attached to the frame. The rear of the motor is bolted to the front of the transmission. The transmission is not bolted to the frame but is attached to the frame via the swing arm pivot bolt that runs thru the frame, swing arm and rear of the transmission. That way the whole assembly is mounted in rubber and reduces vibration. There is also an adjustable support from the coil mounting plate to the frame on the top of the motor. It is not on in the pic. I am not a Harley guy but am told it is the FXR style. Not sure about it though. Here is a pic oh the transmission. You can see the boss where the long swing arm bolt goes thru.
