thought I would start a new thread/discussion. since its starting to cool off and winter around the corner, what plans do you have for your bike you want to get done while its cold out? I'm hoping to send my cylinders and heads off to be powder coated blue with polished fins, install 585 cam with quickie pushrods, and have my seat worked over and made more comfortable for me. Hope to get that all done and if I manage to find some extra cash after all that, have the wheels chromed.

Updating the 05 Ridgeback by changing the rocker boxes out from TP to S&S also putting roller rocker arms and quickie push rods on.

I'll be changing the tires out on the Mastiff. Going from Avons to Metzeler.

Well considering a very rainy Florida summer and a then a broken valve guide last month, then being sent out of town for the next month......

My winter wish is many days on the dog in a warm leather jacket once I get home in November. :2thumbs:

A new top end?

Nothing ever goes as planned, had the front head off cause it was getting ready to go. Had oil seeping at the head gasket and bubbling when cold. So I was ready to put the head back on and checked the cylinder while cleaning it up. Found it scoured up pretty bad so I have to tear it down and see what the damage is going to cost. Wasn’t planning on the for a while!!!

Winter in South Florida = Great riding weather!!

Plans are:
1. Send heads to John S
2. Hardwire
3. New tires :) (if I can stretch some cash also considering chroming the wheels)

I have no extra money to spend. So my wish is to keep my BD in my heated garage and stare at it till spring.

I have a long wish list,
Repaint
New American Suspensions B17 forks
Up date turn signals
Hide wiring harness
New more comfortable seat
New front tire
New stainless brake rotors
Carb rebuild
Find out why so much oil gets into the air cleaner.

BUT Like Thors it will likely get a good cleaning and waxing a new front tire and pray for a short and mild winter here in Ohio

My list will be finding a new and comfortable two up seat, a baggage rack, and a few pieces from Curtis that will be pure front end maintenance. I have the winter off and getting full pay so I plan on making it looking pretty good for spring as well as keeping it well oiled since I live in Georgia and only plan on a couple of months of winter parking. I also plan to sell my dear GoldWing and replace it with a 2003 Ultra Classic that eventually will look just as sharp as my BigDog does, for the longer trips. It will be a good winter regardless....

#1 wish - no problems
spring seat for the pit
3" open primary
springer front end
those are the wishes...
general maintenance will happen.

I just bought a '76 K20 in really good shape only needing some minor body work to slow the spread of the rust. I want to focus on that this winter before its too late (unlike what I let happen to my '89 K1500).
