I had 66,000 on my k9 when I put bearings and seals in it. I think I wasted my money because everything looked good after I had it apart. :-(I'm curious myself on transmission longevity how many miles before rebuild? I'm pretty sure mine is NOT updated
212k miles wow?You know when S&S builds a motor or Baker builds a trans they put their money where their mouth is. I don't know why they both let BD build their parts and put in cheap bearings/parts but they did and I suspect they now regret it... My 107 S&S motor (S&S bought) was still strong at 212k miles which says a lot. My Revtech 6 speed was still going strong too. When I read about you guys having to rebuild a trans or motor with less than 15k on them it makes me sick. You spent good money for a quality product you didn't get. My dog is doing good at 22k but I worry all the time about it.

No it's not a typo. I built the bike in 1996 and bought the 96 CI motor direct from S&S. I updated it to 107 in 1998. I replaced the head gaskets at 180k and that's it. I sold the bike to my friend and he's still riding it today. I suspect it now has over 250k on it. I replaced 3 spedos in that time and kept a log.212k miles is that a typo?
212k Thats insane, iv never heard of any motorcycle lasting that many miles without any major motor work impresive..i pray mine goes that long!No it's not a typo. Cool wish you got a picture! Shovels will run forever !Saw 5 Shovelheads at the Cabbage Patch today. One had just 1 side of the gas tank on it and it was the right side. 1966 The only year Harley made the petcock on the right side. He said the first spedo quit at 112k miles, the second at 92k and this one stopped at 87k 5 years ago so it was well over 300k. He said it has never had any work done on the motor or trans. The bike looked good and had the solo seat with the grab bar on it, kick start only. Too cool! Oh, and he was older than me....
That is so cool! Real old 70's build and it even has a front brake.Speaking of old bikes...Here's a 46 for sale on fleabay

On my 2005 Chopper, at around 52000 miles, the engine needed re-boring. Then at around 53000 miles, one of the bolts inside the tranny got loose, then fell out, jamming the tranny gears which required several gears to be replaced. At 87000 miles, the rear head gasket started leaking. I sold the bike at that point. What type of milage is everyone getting on the s&s 117 motor and or tranny before motor or tanny gives out or blows up?? Thanks
TP Rocker boxes don't count, they'll last forever......30,000 miles on my motor and I have TP rocker boxes. I ride mine pretty hard. Transmission lasted 7000 miles, countershaft moved, baker knew they had a problem with the 06's and fixed mine under warranty. All good since then
Just turned over 60,000. No problems at all.
