To clarify, the seat was installed properly as the above post shows... The brackets are part of the 08 Pitbull set-up. I've decided to ditch the brackets and chance it with just the cups. Dealer is taking care of me. The seat comes assembled so it either wasn't tightened by BD or worked its way loose from vibration. Either way, it won't be an issue going forward. BD may be willing to do the paint in the winter, so I don't have to lose riding time. Waiting to get an answer on that one. Miss my pooch already.
I'm learning that with these bikes, you have some issues here and there which can be frustrating, but overall it's a small price to pay...... Don't buy one unless you are somewhat mechanically inclined and/or don't mind learning and turning a wrench now and again.

I would hope that there is a good reason for the brackets. Logically the new style pitbull is the only bike in the BDM lineup with the springer seat so one would assume it has to do with the seat????
