What I found this morning....

Energy One
To clarify, the seat was installed properly as the above post shows... The brackets are part of the 08 Pitbull set-up. I've decided to ditch the brackets and chance it with just the cups. Dealer is taking care of me. The seat comes assembled so it either wasn't tightened by BD or worked its way loose from vibration. Either way, it won't be an issue going forward. BD may be willing to do the paint in the winter, so I don't have to lose riding time. Waiting to get an answer on that one. Miss my pooch already.

I'm learning that with these bikes, you have some issues here and there which can be frustrating, but overall it's a small price to pay...... Don't buy one unless you are somewhat mechanically inclined and/or don't mind learning and turning a wrench now and again.

 I would hope that there is a good reason for the brackets. Logically the new style pitbull is the only bike in the BDM lineup with the springer seat so one would assume it has to do with the seat????

What? - any visible damage/divots with your bracket bolts touching the fender?

what?

no.......there is a rubber spacer that seats inside of the tab. the tab does not really touch the fender. I've only owned it this season so not sure how much the pillion pad was used. I just took it off. I would imagine if you got some dirt or something up under the pad or the suction cups you could get some scratching. i've heard of some other guys putting some sort of tape or protective film on the fender to prevent this.

you could still use the brackets as they will stop the seat rubbing on the spring loaded seat . just lock tite the bolts that go into the seat and you should not have a problem again . :zz2cents:
