Probably both would be in need of a service? I'd first spray with WD40 to cut the crunching. Brake clean next to wash it out. White lithium in a spray can to lube. WD40 is used to clean toilets. Try cleaning a toilet with lith. Meaning, its not WD and go. I'd use cling wrap, lith spray tip inside the joint, this fills the linkage without going around the other side kind of narrows down the full surface area being pressure lubed.
Edit:
You mean 3 points? If that's one of those ball type? Or closed cage types? I was thinking of closed type to pressure it. But if it's 3-foot lever pivot, that slides on a tube? That's more like remove shifter arm, wipe thick grease and a little paste mix of anti-seize gray or copper. Full anti is going to stick and dry down the road. A mix is what the meguyveer in me says to do to my bike.
