voltmeter

Me and ker have been kicking around the idea of piecing together a voltmeter set up so we could keep an eye on our charging system......this is what I came up with on my end.....I ordered a digital voltmeter off of eBay for $16.....and a mounting cup cup for $14got them today.....and hooked them up just to get an idea.....12.7 volts with the bike off.....And 13.3 volts at idle.......increasing as the rpm's go up.....I just connected the red and black wires from the gauge to the positive and negative battery terminals.
This gauge also has an alarm that goes off when the volts drop below 11.5
I'm going to put a small toggle switch in the circuit to kill the power when the bikes not running......I think this is a pretty sweet and cheap deal to know how the charging system is working....

Yeah.......I'm going to mount it to the top of the speedo mount and do like we talked about.......drill and tap a hole and it will be centered over the speedometer.

I think yours will look really good with the Dakota digital voltmeter and your Dakota digital speedometer

Yes......the pictures I took were.in the bright sunlight.....you can see them fine.

I would not install wiring that is connected directly to the battery without a fuse on my motorcycle. It is a good way to burn it to the ground. Just sayin.

I don't know about Slick, but I was planning on tapping into my tender wire after the 3 amp fuse

I was kicking around an idea to mount one under the seat. I don't want it sitting on the speedo.

I went with a smaller option. Waterproof and think it was $2 or $3 on eBay. From China with love.

I'm just gonna carry it in my tool roll though.
