Vid Big Dog K9 vs. crotch rocket (k9 wins of course)

Ok interesting video, but maybe I missed something but in my simplistic hillbilly way, I do not see any whomping going on. Yes you do get the jump on him, but it seems that he had no problem to catch up and pass very quickly. Not being there, I guess I would want to know where does the racing end?

Also who determined when to do the roll on? Not trying to knock down your thrill, but it seems that you gave it gas, got the move and then he put the gas to the ninja and very quickly met you and it appears passed you also.

Hey but I was not there, so maybe it was a Big Dog Whomping the Ninja. Main thing is that you had fun.

Now since you probably have close to 300 pounds more than a stock Ninja and even with the high HP of your Dog, the HP to weight ratio assuming the stock 05 Ninja is around 100 HP is still very much in favore of the Ninja.

So you may get him on the initial roll, but if he is any decent of a rider, logic says it will not last long before he blows by (which appears to be the case in the video). So maybe whomping has taken on a new meaning.

Have to agree with other also, even though the BD wil get up and move and bring smiles on the face, more for the three points that others have already mentioned.

Love my BD and it will give the seat in the pants feel and occasionaly shock a few rice riders, but I do not think I would see me whomping on a Ninja for any distance and especialy one that has a rider that knows what they are doing. For thing like that, that it what the Buell is for.

Have fun though and thanks for posting.
u most def are missing something we were going off the horn at the same time, that jump is the BD's torgue advantage. experience of the riders is I own this Big Dog on the vid and a K5 GSXR 1000 w/ Nitrous, been riding since I was able to walk, rider of the other bike also has a 412hp turbo hayabusa and has grown up riding w/ me so I dont think that is a problem. the whomping is going on when i am in front of him up to around 100mph where I let off (we were on a ridic bumpy back road in my hillbilly town).
Considering the fact you obviously dont know either of the hp's of either bikes, I dont think you can judge the power to weight ratio's of either bike. as far as the lead lasting, the crotch rocket does eventually catch the BD at higher speeds, but all the fun of a race is in the 1st 100mph so who gives a F*&^ lol.

You are right, I do not know either HP of either bike, other than the quote of you saying you have 135 HP, so assume that is correct. But a Stock 2005 Ninja was listed at 368.0lb by manufacture or around 400 real world dry, with manufacture listed HP 113 RW in 2005. So since you said 135 for yours, I use that and for a K-9 Dry Weight is listed at about 700 lbs., so Ninja is at approx 3.5lb per HP and the BD is 5.2lb per HP, seems to me the ratio is in favor of the Ninja. So not a judgement, just the calculations. What I can say for a fact is that the Ninja is not 600 lighter than the BD as you said in one of the other response.

I was not there and glad you had a good time, that all said based on video, do not see a whomping, but then again maybe it is my silly ass hillbilly ways. Either way glad you are having fun.

Maybe if you are out my way some time, we can enjoy a ride and since you built it for racing, hell maybe after enjoy a good ride, a few tales, some new adventrues, you can whomp me on my 1125R too!!!

Be safe

OK, I will be brief.
First, tell your "bud" to learn to ride his Ninja. He needs to spin the motor up...you have to ride a 600 class like you are mad at it. If he learned to twist the throttle and shift correctly, the results may have been different, even against that rocket ship 135hp K9 of yours.
Second, V-twin riders refer to crotch rocket dudes that haul ass on public roads in short pants, tank tops and flip flops as "squids." Responsible motorcyclists refer to them as "shit buckets determined to give motorcycles a bad name." Non riders refer to them as "dangerous" and "criminal," worthy of being outlawed.
At least you had on a t shirt and tennis shoes.....
You Don't "spin" the engine up on a roll on lol?? the revs were prob at 9-10,000 b4 he ever touched the gas. and i am sure he was riding it very mad, a BD was pulling away from him lol

LOL check that 135hp quote, i was talking about the rocket ;) page 1. that was on a porta dyno so it may be a lil high but it seemed accurate for all other bikes that rolled on it. I.E. 2010 gsxr 600 97 hp. and I LOVE 1125R's I dont think i would beat it, but my Liter bike would ;)

Corrected, it does appear that you were talking the rice burner. Either way have fun and hell you may beat me on the 1125r, who knows, never tried, but it gets me and these old bones up where I wish to go and brings the smile factor, but no matter how much I enjoy the 1125 or for that matter all bikes, the BD is my favorite,

Have fun and be safe.

what are u talkin about? my chooper is not a sports bike, so comparing it to a porsche=dumb. If anything it compares to a big ass luxury Maybach that beat a porsche. and yes it may be more money but and cc's but the 636 is 600lbs lighter w/ double the cylinders and I still beat him lol. BOOM
You built your bike for racing. Its not a luxury Maybach. Secondly, get your facts straight. The 6 dirty 6 is 400 lbs. You chopper is not over 700. Thats a 300 lb difference not 600. The 636 is 113hp you have 135? The 636 is a race bike for turns and twisty. Your's is a straight line crusier. How bout you do a high speed run. Bet you 1,000 that the sportbike will leave you in the dust.

LOL it is a comparison to somebody else's post. You obviously have no idea what u are talkin about, dry weight of a 636 is just under 400, dry weight of my dog is over 900. race was roll on 30 to 100 i beat him there, ninja does catch up to me after i let off the gas. and he might be able to beat me higher speeds, but i dont care my k9 is not a high speed bike, hence cruiser name and Maybach like comfort in comparison to a 636 lol. as far a the hp figure, that was just a dyno read. argue with the machine not me. Is this a sport bike forum I wondered on to lol?

How did you come up with dry weight of K-9 at 900, what the hell have you put on it to increase the wieght 200 lbs. I mean I could see maybe 40-50 increase at most for sissy bar and oil cooler, but 900 is nearly 200 over specs. More curious of how you got 900 lbs of dry weight  on the BD. This is not a sport bike forum as you asked, but many of us, including you have other bikes, have rode other bikes and for sure do know our BD and unless you are Raywood or Knotso and loaded for a cross country trip, I am pretty sure most of us would come no where close to 900 DW on our BD (unless you are counting you own wieght).

Still thank you for posting the video, it makes for good conversation and fun reads, beats the crap out of boring contract specs and engineering design that I spend a good part of the day dealing with.

Oh an the Big Dog does sound good BTW.

Shredder, I think you are right for I am getting old also and like you do not see a whomping, but hey we both live in West Virginia and have the grey in the hair, need the occasional eye glasses to see.

So I need to make sure I have the eyes check again when I get home, mean time I will see if I can hook up the monitor to a 32 inch screen to help me see it better since the 27 inch one is not helping. Best to you and the family, watch the traffic on 11 and those bridge workers over by the interestate.

I raced this Hayabusa 1300.....it wasn't even close, rolling start and stoplight. I got beat so bad I had to make up excuses (missed gear, bug in eye, sun in my eyes, bad gas, Clutch slipping, fouled plug, you get the idea :D) Another friend of mine just purchased a Ninja ZX14R. I told him I didn't want to embarrass him. To say the ZX14 is quick is a understatement.

That is my fault, 900 was w/ my weight, not DW
