Vance and Hines Big Radius 2 into 1 Exhaust

I purchased a used Vance and Hines Big Radius 2 into 1 exhaust pipe and installed it on my 2006 K9. Well, it sounded like crap, so I took it back off. I decided to pull the baffle out and investigate why it sounded so aweful. I removed the baffle and proceeded to take the baffle apart. Currnetly the baffle is in three pieces... the outer cylinder, the front cone and the rear baffle. Further investigation revealed that the rear baffle had been modified by drlling five 1/2 inch holes in the front end plate of the rear baffle piece. Now I have the understanding that 2 into 1 produce more low and mid rpm hp and torque. I'd like to keep this trait in the pipe, because that is part of the reason that I purchased the pipe in the first place. So, with all this in mind, I'd like to know if anyone has modified their Vance and Hines Big Radius 2 into 1 exhaust pipe. If you have modified your pipe, how did you modify it? If you installed a different baffle and what type? Last but not least, how is the performance and how does it sound? Any and all information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

A lot of us modified our to 2 into 1. Had a bunch of pics but
Do you have any pictures of the baffle system that you are talking about. I have the 2into 1 set on my 09 K9 and just used a long drill bit to poke some holes in the outboard end and it sounds a little better. I think there is an aftermarket baffle for these pipe also.
Several of us modified these pipes by drilling the holes as Paul describes, some knocked that end completely out an made like 5 slices about 1 inch deep then folded down every other cut to maintain some back pressuse. There was a glass wrap also on these pipes that was the first thing to go. I had some great how to pics but were all lost when the old BDB format was changed to the new.

Thanks pknowles, I think that a previous owner had done that to this one. It had five half inch holes in the end of the baffle. I just didn't like the sound of it. I currently have the Vance and Hines BR 2 into 2 with the factory V&H baffles and prefer the sound of them over the V&H BR 2 into 1 that had been modified. So I wanted to improve the sound without sacrificing the performance.

Hey OJ you might want to give these folks a call https://www.bigcitythunder.com/ they seem to produce some quality baffles. Just sayin..
Thanks Tony, I called Big City Thunder and talked to a gentleman there. He gave me a lot of good info and suggested a baffle that they have. Unless I come up with something better, I will be most likely modifying mine according to his directions.

Thank you also DJ, How do they sound after the modification? It would've been nice to see some pictures of the modifications.

Again, Thank you all for your input.

I took the baffle completely out of mine and put torque cones in for backpressure. I love the way it sounds.. Loud and proud! You'll have to make sure to put the bolts back in the side of your exhaust that hold baffle in or it'll blow exhaust out of the holes onto your bike.

What model # V&H pipe is the BR 2:1?

I've been looking to move over from a 2:2 to a 2:1 but when I called V&H they told me they don't make a BR2:1 for my 2006 Mastiff.

Why the move to a 2 into 1? Performance? Sounds like a poor ROI from what I've seen. But, what I've seen is limited, so maybe I just need to be enlightened.

Performance and tune-ability...maybe just a bit more clearance as an afterthought.

From the research I've done so far its looking like V&H 28007 is the part number...but I'm not sure if there are any other part numbers that may be compatible as well, or if any custom builders make something similar.
