V&H Pipes

I have a 2008 K9 and I'm thinking on changing the super trap original exhaust to V&H big raduis 2 to 2 exhaust system. My bike has EFI. I see a lot of V&H pipes for carb only. What is required if I want to do this change. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing. The EFI system has a fuel table calibration range of 20%. Pipes easily fall within that.

As you ride it will self tune, and adjust where needed.

Ideally, after ~50 miles you would Merge the learned maps to write them permanently into the ECU so you don't loose them if you loose battery power.

Did some research and found out that they do indeed have 18mm wideband o2 sensors so you would have to have efi pipes with the bungs installed to accept the o2 sensors or you could weld the bungs on and drill out the carb pipes. You do have to have the o2 sensors for the auto tune to function.

Bunch of different companies sell the weld in 02 sensor bungs. Just make sure you drill and weld in the right spots. Also, get the right size bung. I know there are at least 2 different sizes.

Thank you for replying I thought that there were sensors that I needed to deal with. I've also read that I should install a fuelpak?

Harley's are a narrow band or closed system that will not auto tune and you need a piggyback tuner like a fuelpak to add or subtract fuel from the base table.

Lorne, what did you end up doing in your quest for aftermarket pipes? i want vance and hines big radius but i've been told they don't make em to accommodate my 09 k9 with efi.

Hi Kenny I ended up not changing the stock pipes. My reply back from V&H was that they don't make pipes for the EFI bikes. If you do change them, you will need some type of fuelpak to make the bike run properly. Good Luck

That’s not true. You do not need a “fuelpak”. The VFI will self tune to support new pipes.

You may also be able to make a bracket for theirs pipes to fit your bike. You can add bungs for the O2 sensors if need be too. I did on my current pipes.
