Upgrade front fender strut inner mounting bolts

Energy One
I'm sure not everyone is as anal as me about their ride but then I am sure others are. So I decided to take some pics and throw this on here in case anyone else finds those front fender strut mounting bolts as hideous as I do.
My bike is an 06 K9 so yours may differ slightly.

First go here, or any comparable place available to you, and get these in 1":

Socket products, Socket flat head screws, Grade 8 chrome

Next remove your fender and your struts from your fender

Man these bolts are ugly as hell

Next, using a counter sink bit and your handy cordless, countersink the existing bolt holes. Careful though you don't want to go to deep.

Perfect fit

Now that is more like it

This is much nicer looking, sorry I should have taken a before photo but I forgot. Just go out and look at your BD you will see what I mean.

:whoop:

I did have to do some very minor tweaking on my fender after installation but it was very minor. I was comfortable with this because my bolt holes were almost exactly the same size as the bolts so there was virtually no adjustment to the fender anyway. Review your setup thoroughly before diving in on your ride.

That looks great Curtis. Imagine it would fuck up my chrome brackets on my bike. I may look at some caps for mine. Yours came out great.

I was wondering how to make those bolts look better.
Great idea. One more thing to add to the todo list.
Thanks for sharing.

That looks great! I am replacing some of the bolts in other places with stainless steel. They don't look as good as what you did here, but they look better than the ones that were on it from the start.
And being called anal just means in reality you take care of the stuff we have been blessed with, rather than just talking about it! I am just now recovering from polishing my wheels with a couple months ago, used my fingers in those hard to reach places, and really ragged out the skin. Recominds using the blue latex gloves I had in the tool box. but was too hard headed to use them. Try some of the Weiman's silver polish from Walmart, easy to use and cheap, on the chrome and billett. It will make it shine like a mirror. It really works great. Don't do the triple tree with it! The sun will reflect in your eyes and blind ya!
