One question I have how is the decel pop with the vance & hines
Most all of them will have some decel pop unless you are EFI not carb. Make sure you adjust your fuel/air screw on your carb after installing the new pipes.
Not a bad idea to remove the screw and check to make sure you don't need a new one. Remove it , check to make sure the needle is still smooth on the taper end and will have NO groove worn into it, if it has any bit of slight groove, replace it. It's only $5 or so.
-Thread the needle back in carefully, until you feel it very lightly seat.
-Back it back out 1 1/2 turns.
-Start bike, let it run to operating temp.
-Turn your accelerator pump screw all the way in, counting the turns as you go in.
-now go over and slowly turn the fuel/air screw in (clockwise) until the motor starts to stumble in RPM
-Then slowly turn back out (counter clockwise) and count the turns till it again starts to stumble and die off.
-Now turn back in(clockwise) to go half way between these two points of stumble.
**After you adjust that, go back to your accelerator pump screw and turn the screw back out to the number of turns you had before (usually around 21/4-3 turns out)
-blip your throttle a few times and make sure you have good response, if not adjust your accel. pump more (in or out depending on if it makes it better or worse)
-adjust your idle and take it down the road for a test ride
