OK you oil guys, Ive been seriously considering a new line of work. I was an electrician for a few years but have been doing 12volt electronics for the last 15 years( audio, security and remote start) and with the last 6 years installing GPS tracking systems. Who is hiring? Ive been working 55-65 hours a week for the last 6 years tons of travel, and I want more money!!!

I just installed some tracking systems on some National Oil trucks, for a company called LongHorn From Texas.... Funny how things work out.

Hey shovelshot, welcome to TX! :2thumbs: As Texans would say, you are just up the road from me! Actually about 30 minutes. I'm in Ft. Worth and about 5 minutes North of the Fort Worth Stockyards.

Yes traffic sucks and there are MANY idiots on the road!

As far as good food, of course everyone has their own opinion, I say you should try the following:
Abuelo's is awesome for Mexican
H3 and The Keg for steaks
BBQ and a cold one! Texas Pit BBQ in Saginaw, which is actually where I live. It is not a chain and the owner is one of my best friends and I promise you will not find a colder schooner anywhere.

Give me a shout if you ever want to roll with me and my friends.

One more thing... I found my old "Southerner Moves North" document for your reading pleasure. I laugh every time I read it....:roll::roll:

A SOUTHERNER MOVES UP NORTH

Dec. 8 5:00 PM. It’s starting to snow. The first of the season and the first one we’ve seen in years. The wife and I took our hot buttered rums and sat by the picture window watching the soft flakes drift down, clinging to the trees and covering the ground. It was beautiful !!!!

Dec. 9 We awoke to a lovely blanket of crystal white snow covering the landscape. What a fantastic sight. Every tree and shrub covered with a beautiful white mantel. I shoveled snow for the first time in years and loved it. I did both the driveway and our sidewalk. Later a city snowplow came along and accidentally covered up our driveway with compacted snow from the street. The driver smiled and waived. I waved back and shoveled it again.

Dec. 10 It snowed an additional 5 inches last night and the temperature dropped to around 11 degrees. Several limbs on the trees and shrubs snapped due to the weight of the snow. I shoveled our driveway again. Shortly afterwards the snowplow came by and did his trick again. Much of the snow is now a brownish-gray.

Dec. 11 Warmed up enough during the day to create some slush which soon became ice when the temperature dropped again. Bought snow tires for both cars. Fell on my ass in the driveway, $145.00 to a chiropractor but nothing was broken. More snow and ice expected.

Dec. 12 Still cold. Sold the wife’s car and bought a 4X4 in order to get her to work. Slid into a guardrail anyway and did a considerable amount of damage to the right rear quarterpanel. Had another 8 inches of the white shit last night. Both vehicles covered in salt and crud. More shoveling in store for me today. That damn snowplow came by twice today.

Dec. 13 It is now 2 degrees outside. More damn snow. Not a tree or shrub on our property that hasn’t been damaged. Power off most of the night. Tried to keep from freezing to death with candles and a kerosene heater which tipped over and nearly burned the house down. I managed to put out the flames but suffered 2nd degree burns on my hands and lost all my eyelashes and eyebrows. Car slid on ice on the way to emergency room and was totaled.

Dec 14 White shit keeps coming down. Have to put on all the clothes we own just to get to the damn mailbox. If I ever catch the son-of-a-bitch that drives that damn snowplow, I’ll rip open his chest and tear his heart out. I think he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then comes down the street about 100 MPH and buries our driveway again! Power still off. Toilet froze and part of the roof has started to cave in from the weight of the snow.

Dec. 15 Six damn more inches of snow and sleet and ice and God knows what other kind of white shit fell last night. I wounded the snowplow asshole with my pellet gun. Wife left me. Car won’t start. I think I’m going snow-blind. I can’t move my toes. I haven’t seen the sun in a week. More snow predicted with wind chill at minus 22 degrees.

I’M MOVING BACK TO TEXAS!

:2thumbs:LOL Man...Im laughing and agreeing with alot of you people talking about Texas. I am a 100% Houstonian and work as a Traffic manager (Shipping and Recieving Dept, not the Traffic itself mind you!) at a Flange Manufacturing Company that deals with Oil n Gas. Let me give you a tip about driving in texas...dont drive safe, drive reckless and i promise you wont crash period. most of the idiots here that do crash are the one that tries to be safe drivers. fuck that!! You drive to survive!! Houston has some of the biggest freeways known to mankind here and our Beltway 8 tollway loop is like driving on a nascar track. me and a buddy of mine would be on that and hitting like 85-120mph and still getting passed by (even soccer moms are passing by).

As for eatery, Houston have some of the best food around here. Texas Roadhouse does not belong in texas period. Taste of texas steakhouse rocks especially a 72.oz porterhouse. The actual best mexican restaurants are those hole in the wall places own by mexican families like, Doneraki, Ninfas, Hacienda, guadalupes, and if you like lime flavor fajitas then Lupe Tortillas' is the place. Yes there are women here you can get a much higher chance of getting laid especially if you have your big dog with ya. just a few place to hit are, Washington Ave close by the Height, City Centre by beltway 8 and I10, Rice Village (Rice University area crawling with hot smart women LOL). If you are looking for hot rich older women then go to River Oaks Area. These are just a named few and thats just the tip of the iceberg. There are a shitload of places to hit especially if you like bar hopping.

So once again, Welcome to Texas!! pm me anytime you need recommendation for an awesome place to eat or bar to hit up if you or anyone else here are ever in my area.:2thumbs:

If your in Houston slide west on I-10 for Mexican food in Seguin Tx to Nacho MaMa's which is next door to one of the original Rudy's BBQ. I lived at both these restraunt when I was riding rough stock in the PRCA 20 yrs ago. My favorite restraunts down the street from my favorite arena!!

Hey Shovel! I'm here in Lewisville area too. That must be you tryin' to shake the traffic on 35 with me. Thank God for the HOV lane :2thumbs: Scariest thing to me down here are the random U-turns at intersections. Can't tell you how many times i've almost been hit turning right on red:angry: I'd be up for riding sometime too. Looks from the thread like there's quite a few of us in the area. May even see you at Strokers some weekend:up:

Thanks for the suggestions all. I will for sure be in Houston at some point. I have hotels that I handle capital improvements for in Houston, Greenspoint, Willowbrook and somewhere else I forget. Like I said these were just "observations". I love Minnesota but being able to get on the Dog whenever I want is worth any traffic irritations. It is funny to see all the bikers bundled up when it's 65 and I'm in a t-shirt.
