Two Months In Texas Observations

So..I've been living in Texas now for about two months and I would like to share a couple observations:

Traffic: Who the fuck gave anyone in this state a drivers license? 6am, weather is fine, people just randomly crash into each other fucking up my commute. 5pm, slight curve in the freeway, better slam on the brakes and navigate curve at 35 mph! Let's all drive in the left lane and do 45 in a 60. Better yet, change lanes without signalling, decide at the last minute you need to cross 3 lanes of traffic to turn. Lets not forget the cell phone and why not just toss cigarette butts out in front of a guy on a bike.

Getting a Texas Drivers license: My valid Minnesota license is not good enough. I need to provide two more pieces of identification. I have to mail $36 back to Minnesota for a certified copy of my birth certificate. Then, I need to find my social security card. An out of state license is as valid as a high school report card when getting a Texas license. I am not kidding.

Biker Bro Wave: I love riding, I get into the spirit of it but do you really need to wave at someone from the frontage road when he waves from the freeway?

Texas Roadhouse: I can't believe people in Texas eat there!

Mailboxes: Why are they all covered in brick? Oh yeah, see observation one.

Dallas Cowboys: No matter how hard I try it's just not gonna happen.

Don't get me wrong. I am liking the weather but I can't even find a decent bar.

Strokers is cool.

Welcome to TEXAS, :flag:, Here you have to learn how to survive on the little things Texas has to offer, like Jobs, Pussy :D, Beer :D, great weather :D oh did I mention Jobs and pussy:D .

Where in the Fuck is Minnesota, :D Oh yea I remember now. I was a Marine Recruiter working out of Rochester MN. and LaCrosse WI. from 1979 to 1982. Nothing there but buffalo chips and snow, especially in Minot, Rochester, Eau Claire, La Crescent, Winona, Austin, Mankato, Deluth, Grand Rapids, Brainerd, St Cloud and even in the Twin Cities. Those are only a few of the towns I got to visit and was not impresses at all. I don't remember any decent places to eat either. Oh yea there was Shim Shacks, they had burger, fries and flies.

I couldn't do the Viking thing either man, I said Horns are for steers and queers and I wanted nothing to do with that

Don't get me wrong, I has a job to do and I did the best I could with what I had. I met some real nice people there, still have some good friends there, Recruited some grate Man and Woman too. But that would never ever be a place for me to live in. I just can not see myself having to deal with Ole man frost nipping me in Butt every winter. I like it here in South Texas the weather today was 82 Degree, sunny and loving it. :2thumbs:

You must of pissed someone off... When I moved to the Austin area, I just swapped my FL license for a TX one, no issues.

If you ever head down to Austin for some great riding, hit me up. The Hill Country out here is fantastic.

I am one of them Oil People :D the Oil People keeps the folks up north and around the world warm during the winter. It also keeps bikes, Car and Trucks on the road with gasoline and/or Diesel  Not to mention that the Money is good in the Oil and gas Industry (right Bubble Head ) the average Land-man makes about $600 buck a day plus expenses. Where ever we go we help the economy with rent money, food we eat and booze we drink. The locals may not like it , but when they get their first royalty check for some 200K per month per well (or better in some cases) than we the best people they have ever known.

Have fun in Texas man, life is to short to be picky :2thumbs:

Slamming on brakes in curves: gives you a chance to do some drifting around them and if your good all 3 lanes.
Butts out the window: try and catch those sometimes those are not cigarettes.
Brick mail box: so the youth of this state wont bash a metal one in.
2 types of identification: immigration wants to make sure your really from the north. And yea roadhouse sucks.
WELCOME TO TEXAS
and don't forget your CHL

I love the roads out here, lots of pretty twisty roads. We don't get the winters down here that the Dallas area gets, let alone further North (I'm originally from Chicago) so the roads don't suffer much. You still get your pot holes, but once you get out on the back roads, it's nice. :2thumbs:
