Turn signals?

I am having a problem with my turn signals. Just wondering if anyone has had this same issue. When I push the right turn signal I get nothing. When I push the left signal I get all 4 flashers? Has anyone had this happen? I had many things to fix when I first got the bike (was a repo) and could not afford to rewire it. So I came across a new EHC on EBay and hoped that would fix my signal problem. Well that didn't happen and it is the last thing I needed to fix. I ride to work early in the mornings and it is still dark. I would like to fix my signals for extra safety and just because they don't work lol! Any ideas welcome, thanks!

03 Chopper Turn Signals to the rear runs under the fender? Check to see if your tire rubbed the wires bare.

I'm not too familiar with the 03 system is there a fault light for turn signals? Similiar to the 04 and up?

I wish I had more money.
Eric is right. It sounds like you have a wire rubbed. Did it just start? Did you unplug the battery when you did the ehc swap? Get that thing on a jack and get the back tire off the ground. You should be able to see up in there.

I had the problem on my 04. Just under the rear fender, coming out of the batery compartment, I found a chaffed wire. Spliced it and booted it so rubbing was not going to be an issue again.

I will check the rear fender area and see if I can find any rubbed wires. Also yes I actually had the battery out at the time of the ECH swap. I replaced the foam in the battery box to help the vibration. I kept getting a loose negative battery cable. After I put in the new foam no more lose cable. That was the reason I had the battery out for the EHC swap. Does this sound like it could be a relay? Does anyone know where the relay is located on an 03? I would like to at least check it if it actually has one.

Actually sounds more like the switch is shorted on the right side. This would cause the 4 ways to activate. When the flashers activate -- you get both right and left flashing? front and rear?
If so I'd check the wires coming from the handlebars switches. The stupid little circuit boards are known problems.
Open up the right side and check it out and see if there's a short.

Sounds like something is going to ground...try unplugging the switches one at a time and check for a wire touching metal somewhere...if no luck there get a volt meter and a wiring diagram so you can check continuity.

When the flashers activate I get all 4 together. Once the flashers are on the only way to turn them off is to to turn the key off. The Brake lights work fine no problem. I guess I will have to invest in a volt meter. I had my thoughts about the ground as well Bobby.

Mike is right I remember when you posted this issue when you first got your bike and I suggested you test your handlebar switch before you invest in a EHC

Any ideas where to get a switch? I know BDM site but is their any other place
2003 chopper uses harley controls ... I replaced one of my switches on my 2003 pitbull .... I placed the order with BDM and when i received the package, it was a Drag Specialties Product ?
Your local Harley shop sells the switch

Does anyone know what HD signal switch will interchange with my 03 chopper? I was looking on eBay and saw a couple but the years listed are 83 to 95?

Unless some on the site knows exactly what year HD switch you have, I would take the switch off and go to the HD stealer with the switch and have them match it up.

I had my local shop put a rt. switch on order for me today. They said it should be in around Tuesday. I will update when I get a chance to install the new one.

good luck, stacey. remember to be careful with the little magnet that is the sensor for the brake lights. it can get out of place and cause the brake lights to not work.

Signals are fixed finally!

I finally had a chance to put in the new RH turn signal switch. I now have all my turn signals working :2thumbs:!! Wow wish I had done this sooner (like last year) it cost $22.00 and about an hour of my time. I have a quick question for anyone that may know about the auto cancel. What years have the auto cancel? Mine is an 03 and I have to push them again to turn them off, is this right. I thought the 03 shut off on their own? If they do how long or what action triggers them to shut off?
