With a relay it doesn't matter. What matters is that you wire it to the correct contacts. :up:

Wow, must have been drunk when I posted that... based on what was previously posted, here's a diagram


Makes things a little clearer... So if you wire it as Night Train suggested, it will only interrupt speedo power when starter circuit is powered.

All 5 pins are normally closed, or will I need to ask for one specifically?
Here's the part number of a Harley starter relay (it fits all the older bikes):

31506-79-C

It has the contacts you need, it's about 1" square, and has a small bracket build in for you to mount it with. :up:

And I believe the part number of the connector body that goes on it is:

72046-79 (and uses 1/4" female spade connectors)

If you don't want to mess with the whole connector the 1/4" spade connectors would work alone but a fully assembled connector would look more professional! :)

Both of these could have been superceded by now but at least it should give the Harley parts guy a starting point... :D
