Being a new dog owner, buying a 2002 pitbull with unknown mechanical history and 5000k on the clock I decided to put the dog in for a 10k service. After purchasing the bike privately I noticed a leak from the transmission seal, service center confirmed this.
A new seal was installed, still leaked. I sent the bike back and they installed a HD seal, still leaking??? Has anyone else had this issue? I questioned the fact that I was charged for a quart of tranny oil when the service manual calls for 20oz, I was told they only use 20oz but charge for a full quart.
I should mention that the service center has a great reputation, being a large custom center here in the bay area.
Did the baker 5 speed 2002 transmissions require the spacer washer I have been reading about on the newer models? The service center is now talking possible casting issues with the transmission.
This will be the first and last time I send the bike out for a service.
(put an extra 170 miles on the dog on Friday, great experience, great bike and sore ass)
Ride safe!
