OK the gear set is out of the bike and the case remains. Had that sucker ripped out in under 2 hours. I used a swing press in place of the actual press so I did not have to remove the case from the frame.

swing press

So what happened was the clutch nut came loose and the basket slammed repeatedly into the washer behind it and flattened that sucker out. metal shavings wore out the bearing and I am going to see if I need a new mainshaft. ordered the rebuild kit and primary kit from baker 280 for both.

Few bolts away from pulling the trans case out why not just pull the case? Plus side is less mess too.
I don't want to mess with alignment/shims and it came apart really easy it goes back the same way with a little heat and freezer action. That sucker will be clean when it goes back together

The shims should be fine but you should still check the alignment on the case. It only take a few wacks with the "swing press" move it.
To align it all you have to do is loosen up the bolts on the trans case enough it will wiggle. Then attach the inner primary to the engine and trans finger tight. Tighten down the inner primary to the engine, then tighen down the inner primary to the trans...after that all you need to do is tighten up the bolts that hold the case to the frame and your good to go. Never hurts to check just so you dont have a alignment problem later.
