Agree! Headwork should be done with having that many miles. Typical quality rework will run you around $500. Anything less you will pay twice. Boxes are retail for $600 now and you will need all other parts and pieces to go along with it. Total without labor will run you nearly $2000 if you want it done correctly.I would say;
S&S rocker covers
rocker arm supports
hardware
gaskets and o rings
roller or normal rockers and shafts
Then your valve guides might be worn out because of the old setup.
Heads have to come off to be checked and possibly be fitted with new guides and maybe seats etc.... So you will need new head and cylinder gaskets as well.
I would also consider installing quicky push rods and new hydraulic lifters.
Lets hear what other people have to say.
Paul.

Most likely you got a deal from Andrew. At full retail of the web you are looking as follows to do a complete top end rework using stock bore...$2000??? Not even close

Just sayin........![]()

I am not sure yet. It kinda depends on price. If I do it myself it will be a swap only, if I get the man involved there will be more done.Are you doing it yourself?
That is a very good option actually. Despite all the negativity on TP boxes, they have worked, and still works, great for me. Who has those gaskets needed?Why not just replace the gaskets on your tp heads. That what I did have been fine, did about 15000 miles ago. Took about 4 hours because I took my time and cost about $40.00 for gaskets. If it is running ok you do not need head work etc. I have over 40000 miles no issues
Yup, :2thumbs:All you have to do is remove your rocker assembly and look at the top of your valve stems. If the wear pattern is centered and clean your good. If its out of center, or worse yet an hour glass shape, then you need to replace them.
It's kinda like cancer. Starts out no noticeable symptoms, grows into problems, and then the shit hits the fan. :bang:John, with that much misalignment and damage wouldn't the engine be running like crap?
