Thanks for all the feedback, keep it coming, I want to get a good count of cam and spin dropped heads or cut jugs and compression ranges you guys are running.

I called and spoke to someone at S&S about cam choice and was advised to go with the 585 since what I was looking for was power and torque in the 'real world' riding. The 600 cam is for higher RPM riding and really should have the jugs shaved for it to reach its full potential. If you like to just cruise around and want low-end torque, give the 585 serious consideration. If you like to rev it up into higher RPM range, go with the 600 and do it right with decking the jugs. Just relaying info I got from S&S:up:

bowhunter:I have def given consideration to the 585 but I figure if I have to damn near take the thing apart with cam change, the top end which will reguire replacing the gasket for jugs anyway then might as well shave them .40 to get compression where it needs to be.

The 585 will not require touching the top end of the motor or the jugs. It is a very simple job and I posted a thread with step by step pics to show the install. The 600 cam DOES require work on the top end and shaving of the jugs to get the most of the cam as it was designed to be used. It is totally your choice, but there is no comparison in the work needed to PROPERLY install these two cams. Give S&S a call, they were very friendly and get their input if you have any questions.

Indeed Franco, how long did you go with the 585 before you did the TP replacement of top end (rocker boxes, rolling rockers) to S&S or have you yet?

When you slapped your 585 in, did you keep the E carb or switch to the G?

Bowhunter: Thanks for the link of step by step, I may go ahead and do the 585 because I don't need to change anything to do it. Do you still have the E carb or did you switch over to the G to open it some?
