Top 3 Mods you have made!

I have been reading through tons of the older performance threads, some current ones and I wanted to check with those that have recently made modifications and those that have had them done for some time and get your specific feedback on the outcome.

So here it is, pick three of your best mods and let us know what you liked and dislike about them as time has passed. For those with increased cams: 585 was it not enough for you, 600 was it too much cam for your type of riding, was gain worth mpg loss? If you could pick a different route, would you? What would it be?

For the folks that have spin dropped the heads or cut the jugs? Are you happy with the valves you chose?

The xxx carbs, G's, spiked and duel runners?

Thanks and I look forward to seeing what everyone was most happy with and the percentage of specific things that are picked by majority.

Bring on the KNOWLEDGE!! :D  :flag:

For me @ a little over 6' 2":
1. 4" extensions for my pegs
2. Ridgeback handlebars-give 4" more pullback
3. Dakota Digital Speedo

Those are the top 3 things I have done to really improve riding comfort on my '09 K9.

Other recommended mods:
I have done the 585 cam, and am very happy with it.
The Baker Belt drive is awesome.
Big Radius Exhaust is the right tone and volume for me.
Sissy bar/luggage rack allows me to carry plenty of gear while riding on day rides.
Custom 2-up seat is great to prevent fender wear when carring large amounts of gear.

When you zeroed the heads did you also cut your jugs to bring you to 10.5 or so compression or you wanted to stay in the lower 10's?
I did the jugs as well, I blew the lower gasket on the front, so I decided to pull both go 10 over on new pistons, with new valves and springs, don't quote me, I think is was 2 over on the intake and the same for exhaust.

I never changed the Cam, but with the Thunder Heart ignition, XXX carb and the dual runner intake, I'm very satisfied, the bike pulls hard.

1. Grew a beard
2. Shaved my head
3. Wear leathers when it's cold.

:)
1. Grew a long beard { wife threatens to cut it when I am sleeping :D }

2. Getting older and forgot to get hair cut too. Must be an old people thang! The forgetting not the hair cut.

3. Wears under-armor when it is cold in layers, and keeps the scooter on a tender.

Thanks for coming by fella's and chiming in. I was hoping for more than 5 though especially with as many people viewed it. Maybe many folks haven't done too much work to the top end or bottom, just carb and exhuast pipes on. I am really interested in the folks with 585 and 600 cams especially if they have happened to of had both at some point. Just trying for feedback on a good starting point, there is so much information on here that it is hard to narrow down by yourself..lol

S&S 600 cam. huge difference over stock 569. (loving it)
Baker open primary (loving it)
Wires plus ignition (replaced stock system before it took a dump)
retuned carb
Shorter sissy bar (looks better)
turned factory license plate bracket to vertical (horizontal looked like crap)

Currently having DOC'S ESC system installed (will be biggest improvement)...WCC's "FU" open pipes...Arlen Ness's 90° Air cleaner! I seriously want a cam change for more torque, 585 or 600? Non-BDM handlebars soon!

Did you happen to ever get any dyno done before your cam upgrade or s&s duel runners?
No dyno before, but I'm thinking about having it done this summer for curiosity. Mainly to see if I can lean out a bit, and whats the best setting is for the TH ignition, I lost about 12-15mpg, not a big deal, but the cam and rejetting really woke it up.

So I bought my bike with the .600 cam in it and can't comment on comparison. I can say that the lowest MPG I've ever gotten was around 42 and on long day trips mostly cruising 2 lane hwys I'll get low 50's with an avg of about 47-48 for shorter 30-40 mile jaunts to the office and home. I could give a crap if it only got 30, but hey I'll take it :whoop:

Speaking of fuel usage, has anyone installed anything aftermarket that will help you get accurate tank level? Being we dont't have an indicater I don't have any way of knowing if I am going to run out of gas so I just stop about every 160 miles and fill it up lol I have never really trusted in the reserve switch on our manual valves :)

1. 600 Cam was a great improvement (already had the Super G carb)

2. Air Ride... Adjust on the fly and looks awesome with is down..

3. Bandit Clutch... (needed it after the cam install) and no more worry about the clutch basket breaking.
