This question will come down to personal preference, but which brand of tire is the best for the money? I currently have Avon tires on my bike, and they seem to be fine. Are any of the other brands comparable for the money as far as performance and mileage? I'm using X-Mas and my birthday(March) to get my upgrades and I need to replace the rear tire. Thanks in advance for you input.

My 03 Mastiff had Metzlers and I put about 24,000 miles on it. I got about 12,000 on the first tire and when I traded it for the 05 it needed another one.
My 05 has about 43,000 miles on it and I got 19,000 on my first tire and just changed the second last month. Good mileage on the Avons.
Both good tires.

Hey Ray, did you get that mileage on the front or rear tire or both? I have 8000 on my 07 Chopper and there is plenty of tread left at this point. Is it reasonable to expect 18 to 20 thousand out of the OEM Avon Venoms as long as I ride it like I do and that is really babying it. I never spin the rear tire for sure and avoid as many panic stops as possible.

Does anybody know if the 260 Metzeler will fit on the '05 Chopper? I've read someplace before that the 260 Metzeler is actually about the same size, if not smaller than the 250 Avon.
On a bit of a side note, I put Dunlop Elite III's on my Chopper, and the 250 Dunlop is definitely wider than the stock 250 Avon. It fit, but BARELY!!! Once mounted on the rear I could just fit a business card between the tire and the belt guard, and there wasn't much more space between the tire and the frame. I just went with a 240 Dunlop Elite III so as to have more room, but now there's just a bit too much room. Pretty close though to the width of the Avon's.

Absolutely, the Metzler 260 will fit the 05 chopper because I'm running it right now on my 05 chopper with plenty clearance. Everybody has their own opinion as to which one rides/handles better but to be honest with you I didn't notice any diff. Maybe some riders are more attuned to it than I but I have been riding for quite awhile and noticed nothing, both ride/handle good. Maybe one wears better than the other but time will tell. I'd go with the best price you can find on either one

I get a lot more out of the front tire just as I did with my Harley. I changed my first front tire at about the 20,000 - 21,000 mark but been a long time ago so....
Still on the second one now and will change it this fall I believe. As long as it doesn't show any cracking on the sidewall.
As for your mileage I imagine that will depend on you. You sound like you ride like I do so you should see the same amount of mileage.
Some guys are on here saying they have changed them a lot sooner. So guess it depends on how you ride.
Also, by the time you get those high miles on it it will have a square profile.
