If its just a nail causing the replacement, just put a plug in it. I got 5000 miles out of mine after I plugged it and finally had to be replaced cause it was bald.

Yup, I plugged mine in Florida without any issues but each his own I guess .

Rex , what I want to know is how many miles you got on that down tube sticker now after getting caught in Sturgis with it?

If its not close to the sidwall, I would use a Plug/patch. Not just a plug.

They go in from the inside of the tire, pull through like a plug, but at the end of the plug is a patch to cover the whole it self too. works great.

I started last spring with a new tire, picked up a nail with less that 50 miles on it. Plugged it and still running it.

A good plugging tool with the mushroom plugs does the same thing without removing the tire.

J&P Cycles has a kit that is under 25 bucks I think. I bought one a few years back to take on the longer trips. So far, I have only had to use it on the lawn mower tire, but it is still holding up.
