TIRED OF LOOKING....

All started when i had the lower front cylinder oil leak on the gasket. posted here some where. Took out motor-removed both heads, jugs, replaced gaskets, replaced T&P rockers with new S&S rockers, replaced cam 585, and thats when it started to sound...

Sounded like little marbles every once in a while at first, not all the time but as the days grew so did the noise. now being 8 months since the re-build, it sounds like a 1 pound coffee can full of marbles when its making it.....

I have removed the primary cover and checked both nuts thinking i left one loose when i put it back on.
i have re-shimed my cam to within .006 limit.
i checked every nut and bolt i touched during re-build.

The noise mainly happens when idling anywhere. I use to be able to rev the motor alittle and it would stop. It is not letting me do this as much now and i can hear it now when i take off too until it stops a few seconds latter.

Just fustrated that i cant find it. Any help would be appriciated guys....

Also check to see if you have springs on your pipe shields. I have seen this on a friends bike. Sounded horrible.

If it knocks at idle and goes away (somewhat) when you throttle, It's your rod bearing / main bearing or both. It is best to replace rod and main bearing during an overhaul. Some times doing the top end works if all you had was blow by or loss of compression. But you say you had a bag of marbles before and a band aid will not work on something like that. When you have a knock you need to do the bottom end too. :2thumbs:
