This must be your first modification, that is BDM in general. If you wanted easy Bolt on mods should have bought a Harley

Yeah, he has a point, a lot of work goes into changing all that out because if I’m not mistaken, the bars on BDM are specific for BDM so there for not anything else will work.

weather or not i bought a harley is not relevant at this point, cant you see the unnecessary bullshit required to do something as simple a handlebar swap..at least harley has some comon sense built into their bikes....

what is the spread on the risers? my pitbull is 3 or 3.5 inches and think the spread on harley is about 5 inches..and the one inch taper down for the controls dont fit anything on my big dog...i guess im gonna cut my original bars and weld them to a set of 1.250 drag bars, it helps since im a tig welder by trade...its so rediculous that it comes to this just to change bars...

I hear you man. I have changed a lot on my 05’ Ridgeback and it has been fun but also challenging. BDM builds a lot of things bigger and heavier, not to mention brand specific. BDM makes a lot of really great grip styles but if you want to change the bars you have two choices as I see it. Sleeve it or change everything. Good luck bro. Remember, nothing is impossible.

I am about to Dive into a handlebar Swap to drag bars also. Anybody have any issues ? What is that black wire on the right control PCB that connects into the brake housing? Do I need the black wire If I am going to HD switches?

I'm not an expert on the BDM electrical system, but i believe switching to harley controls will require a rewiring of the electrical system. Maybe someone with more knowledge will chime in. The black wire is the brake sensor. It senses the magnet in the lever when you pull it and turns the brake lights on. I think an easier path would be to have a custom set of bars made. Br's custom bars built my apehangers and I'm very happy with them. I'm sure he could build a set of drag bars pretty easily. Then you don't have to switch controls.
